    Beta Patch Notes 0.1.10.5 Discussion

This is what happens when you have a million different weight classes. Really all that is needed is 3 classes within the weight slider: Fat, fit, skinny. Fat gives hp bonuses (this also doesn’t make sense but whatever), skinny gives dex bonuses, fit helps strength. Mages can then choose what...

    Beta Patch Notes 0.1.10.5 Discussion

Fat mages as a concept don't even make sense. Someone at Starvault seems to think obesity correlates with high intelligence. Character weight shouldn't impact non-physical attributes.

MO2 flagging and rep system take the fun out of MO

I agree that the system is dumb right now (sprinkling cities with danger zones seems like a good correction), but lol at the veteran players threatening to quit. You guys have nowhere to go. Even with the weird flagging, no mmo has pvp nearly as open as MO2.

compilation: new players early experience frustrations

People will just mass quit and likely refund the game then. I don’t really care if they quit (if they can’t figure out why they move slow, this game isn’t for them and they’ll probably quit anyways), but refunding 20 minutes in because their character moves too slow and Haven is boring is bad...

compilation: new players early experience frustrations

They need to just remove Haven and replace it with a short, on rails tutorial where certain stats are temporarily maxed and later limited to show players the potential / limitations of the game’s combat/movement systems.

    Braindead melee fighters

Not sure I agree with you, but your solution is overly complicated. You could overcome the ‘brain dead’ warriors concern by making psyche the magic stat and int the professions/misc bonuses stat. That would make int optional for all combat types, including mages.

Me and my friends like the game. But paying monthly fees is unrealistic.

This game isn’t really super hardware intensive to run at low settings. A person making a median income in a middle income country (like Brazil) could easily afford a rig good enough to run the game well. It would be a big chunk of $, but so are high end PCs in wealthy nations. The issue is...

Me and my friends like the game. But paying monthly fees is unrealistic.

Gaming in low income, developing countries is a middle class to wealthy activity. A person in India making the median wage isn’t going to be interested in this game regardless. Many wouldn’t have the prerequisites to even run the game. A rich person in India isn’t going to be bothered by the sub...

Me and my friends like the game. But paying monthly fees is unrealistic.

Implying that this is the Ferrari of mmorpgs aside, this is some weird gatekeeping. Nobody is hurt by regional pricing. We all benefit from a larger player base.

New players are getting confused about how to leave Haven.

I think new players not used to these kind of games are going to be let down after their first couple of deaths regardless. That said, the tutorial should both teach the basics and provoke interest in the game's systems. Experimentation isn't needed in a tutorial. Players need to be shown the...

New players are getting confused about how to leave Haven.

NPC cities are important. I think the closed beta and stress tests prove that - communities organize around the cities in an organic way I haven't ever seen in any other mmo. A tutorial npc city with no guidance makes 0 sense though. An on rails tutorial where players' attributes are...

New players are getting confused about how to leave Haven.

Haven is a dumb concept. Just give players an on-rails tutorial of the game's systems that concludes with the selection of starting city.

    Armor: The illusion of choice

Seems like adding a dex penalty to armors exceeding a certain weight would be the simplest solution to this. It would also take care of complaints (valid imo) that dex builds aren't fast enough without actually buffing current run speeds.

Proposition for a new profession. The painter.

It would work if people have to use some kind of template, but as you point out, the world would be filled with cock portraits and swasticas if the OP’s vision were implemented.

Suggestions for Archery, Taming, Reputation, Crafting and New player zone

Haven should just be abolished and replaced with a fun, streamlined tutorial that gets new players interested in the combat and the game’s systems. Give it a story. I.e: player is captured by bandits. Player breaks free and reads a book that teaches them how to make a weapon. Player crafts a...

Make Earthquake a forbidden Spell in towns. Let teh guards attack mages already during the precast time, if they try to cast an eartquake.

Just create a system that prevents players from being killed when their bank tab is open. Obviously make it more complex than this, but there is no value in even having a bank system if banks end up being one of the most dangerous areas in the game due to griefers. to slippery slope fallacy...

    Magic and PvP

You aren't going to have a pure mage if you go anything but bony, obese, or bulging though. You are forced into a hybrid build unless they rework how int scales. Of the three, bony is clearly inferior when it shouldn't be. The HP reduction is an understandable tradeoff for the increased speed...

    Magic and PvP

There is no way to generate a viable pure mage that is bony. It just can't be done. Oghmir is the only clade that will give you tolerable hp (i.e. over 100), but they lack the attribute points to commit to dex, unless you choose to forgo psych/a mana pool. And if you do that, the low dex cap...

    Magic and PvP

You also have to be morbidly obese in order to be viable as a pure mage. Bony only gives +10 and takes you down around 75hp and some psyche in exchange for a little bit of run speed.

Is Oghmir the meta for miners/gatherers?

Is the int really all that important? Seems like the high int is only really needed if you want to take on a bunch of different crafting primaries. If you want to focus on just one crafting theme, low int is enough.
