Suggestion - Change blocking damage to stamina damage

I understand the concern, but lets think about these numbers realistically. Getting an equipment hit or damage while blocking will in most cases deal about 5-20 damage. Taking that much stamina damage is completely negligible and would be regenerated in a couple seconds while standing still...

Suggestion - Change blocking damage to stamina damage

Attempting to draw comparisons to real life combat in regard to mortals combat will fail immediately, as the games combat is not realistic at all, in any sense of the word. The only thing that we can realistically aim for is believable interaction within the game world. Meaning if I hit...

Suggestion - Change blocking damage to stamina damage

We also need to acknowledge that every single new player has held a block in the right direction, been hit in that direction, still taken damage and sat there thinking "....What?"

Suggestion - Change blocking damage to stamina damage

Furthermore, the argument that you don't want to stam out easier during a fight isn't really valid, because a good player shouldn't be sprinting around swinging until they hit zero stamina then die. That's how inexperienced players behave, and they should learn quickly not to do that, stamina...

Suggestion - Change blocking damage to stamina damage

Hitting someones weapon or shield is hitting their weapon or shield. You can't assume that every time someone hits another persons weapon or shield that they will not compensate somehow to avoid their own weapon smacking into them. It's one thing to assume vague comparisons to real life, but...

Suggestion - Change blocking damage to stamina damage

Like I said in the other thread, with current values in place you would have to be hit so many times to actually stam out from blocking hits that you would be dead anyway at the moment. Everyone knows that everyone is going to attempt to parry regardless, so blocking hits will be a relatively...

Suggestion - Change equipment hits to deal stamina damage

While I am aware that usually people die from running out of stamina in group fights, you would have to be hit basically twice as many times in order to stam out from equipment hits than it would take to actually kill you with them currently. Also keep in mind that stamina regenerates very...

Suggestion - Change blocking damage to stamina damage

Like my previous thread regarding equipment hits, this one is also aimed towards making Mortal's combat more logical. Currently if you hold a block for too long, and someone hits you, you will take a small amount of health damage (unless they have a maul). The reality of mortals combat is...

Suggestion - Change equipment hits to deal stamina damage

Currently hitting someones shield or weapon will deal health damage. I suggest a change to make equipment hits (to your shield at least) deal stamina damage instead. It doesn't make any logical sense to be able to literally kill someone by hitting their weapon or shield, but it makes perfect...

    Add Skill Loss Over Time

I vehemently oppose skill loss in any game, it's just a really, really bad idea. There aren't many things more annoying than losing hard earned progress in a game where it can take weeks or even months to max a skill. Like others have said, you don't punish your players for no reason...

Poison Arrows, Multi Shot and other Archery skills? To Buff Archery as a more viable combat option for MO2

Because it doesn't make any logical sense for it to be viable against a melee fighter. You have no way of defending yourself and a very slow attack speed, against an opponent using a weapon that was actually designed to be used at close range. Sprinting around someone flinging arrows at them...

Poison Arrows, Multi Shot and other Archery skills? To Buff Archery as a more viable combat option for MO2

Archers have always been viable in MO1, and were incredibly deadly if used correctly. The standard foot warrior had Archery, and the ability to sprint while shooting 25 longbow arrows non stop provided you're using the correct bow, which is enough to outright kill anyone who isnt wearing...

    Normalize reaction time

That's the whole point though, they can't with the current system. I'm not sure if you're aware, but there's a system in place at the moment that adds a delay to the release of every attack equal to your ping. So I have 300 ping, I have +300ms added to every single attack making the game...

    Normalize reaction time

He is not arguing with feelings, he's simply pointing out in a non confrontational way that what you're talking about isn't relevant to the context of the argument. If you had increased your ping and tested it in game, you would have immediately learned that there is no advantage to high ping...

    Normalize reaction time

The peeker's advantage is not relevant to MO2 basically at all, unless you apply it to the same situation like running around a corner ready to hit someone. In reality the only thing this affects is slight movement desync from client to client, and has no positive effect on the actual combat...

    Normalize reaction time

This is ultimately the crux of my criticism on the swing delay, in that it may achieve what it sets out to achieve rather well (The syncing of swing release animations on clients with the same ping) however this comes at an enormous cost to the fairness of the game during most fights, while...

    Normalize reaction time

Just to clarify, the release delay serves two purposes. 1. It stops people from artificially increasing their ping to cheat causing whacky issues as their 1000+ ping will now be added to every attack 2. It syncs the swing animations for those who have the same ping as one another, so two...

    Patch Notes 0.0.0.18 Discussion

This is simply not true at all. Wearing armor might prevent bladed weapons from cutting you, but it doesn't stop blunt force trauma from hammers and axes ruining your day. Regardless, the argument is pertaining to the realism of melee combat situations and the movement of people during such...

    Patch Notes 0.0.0.18 Discussion

On the contrary, real combat was a hell of a lot more controlled and slow than what we have in this game. In real life you can't sprint into enemy formations without dying instantly. Real melee warfare is tactical, controlled and deliberate, not everyone sprinting around like headless...

    Patch Notes 0.0.0.18 Discussion

Yes the small 5% speed reduction has already made a big difference in making fights less random and chaotic, but I agree that it isn't quite there yet as it is still too fast. Just a bit more and fights will be much more tactical and controlled.
