The previous version of gaming tables in MO was quite open to what you wanted to do with them. I really liked how it was set up.
You opened a board UI that had many lines, numbers and points on it. Could represent many different games or styles. Youd then right click on your game piece box in your inventory which would allow you to place your pieces on the table. There were different piece sets, I had three different ones in MO1. Not sure how many there were, in reality. They were really nicely done up and could you could see the differences within each piece. There was planned as well of special and rare drops of unique pieces as well... but I never saw this in game.
Multiple people could also have the board open at once, to either spectate, or participate. Only sucky part was the ability to have your pieces stolen from the table (well, the freedom to do as you wanted was good... the idea of only having partial sets that prevent you from play kinda blew).
No forced rules, or "turns"... just an open board and pieces you could use. Up to players to decide game and how it moved forward.
Dice also existed in MO1. Though you had to find them individually, not in sets.
