Many types of melee will be underpowered. Prettymuch every 1h weapon that isn't a dagger. Polarms... we'll see what kind of bonuses they do or don't get against cav. Most 2h weapons, spears, and daggers are in a great spot though and need no buffs. Nor is anything OP fighting against them at the moment. Some specific weapons have counters but they are balanced.

Right now, in-game. Archery isn't OP. It's incredibly easy to deal with. Apply any pressure and they have to switch weapons or be darn near entirely negated.
You are just thinking of a 1v1 scenario. Sure then you can apply pressure to the archer. But what if your fighting outnumbered and just cant turn on the archer because you'll get focused by other melees? No stam bows make it impossible to reset fights which is key to fighting zergs. Most fights at release wont be 1v1s or fair group fights, do we really want to give more advantages to bigger numbers?

No. I'm not just thinking of 1v1 scenarios. I don't even care about 1v1 scenarios all that much. If you're facing greater numbers of a well-coordinated largely ranged force and you don't have people capable of closing on them to negate them/they have people who are good at covering for them... then game over I guess.

You were expecting to win that fight? Why? Lol

There are definitely ways to beat it though. Just not "I can flick my sword around the screen faster so I should be able to beat everything" ways.

But you guys keep painting pictures of smart opponents using smart tactics with superior numbers, you doing nothing clever to counter them, and then you are dumbfounded they could beat you because you have faster reflexes. I don't see any problem with this. That you actually have to play dumb to lose with a greater force and tactics mean more than what you consider "skill" to be.

Where are you doing your testing? Meduli? Some other gentle place? Come test in GK, US timezone on the weekend for a lot more realistic look at what the live game will be like. Just attack someone suddenly.

I have. I love going into GK and just taking potshots at people until someone chases me out into the open where my build has the advantage. XD

I try not to stay inside the city too long both because of the frequency of random crashes, and because I prefer open field fights like most of the fights I'll be experiencing in persistence.

The issue isn't that I don't understand the point you are trying to make. It's that I understand EXACTLY what you are trying to say "I'm better and I lost to more people."

But the tactics you describe them using are smart. Smart tactics beats fast swordplay. Perfect. That's exactly what I wanted from this game.

Yes, but when was the last time? It is different now than it was 2 weeks ago.
You are talking about tactics, on that level I agree with you. On the level of mechanics, I say archery damage needs to be adjusted down and stam usage needs to be adjusted up. That is all that I am saying.

So what are your ways of countering them except recruit more ppl? By that logic, oghmir fat mages with shields arent op either if you have 3-4 warriors for each of them.

Im not saying I'm supposed to win that fight head on, but at least being able to reset and break the fight into smaller 1vx or 1v1s should be possible or the game will totally favor bigger numbers.

Theres nothing smart about chasing someone firing a bow using 0 stam, its just a broken mechanic. And I'm talking about fighting in places like GK where you can use buildings to try to at least get some cover and these guerilla tactics should be more viable, but these players with no stam bows can just keep chasing you forever even between buildings. In the open it would be even worse.

You're not going to like it. But any slower build can be countered by greater numbers if they play smart. I can reset from any fight unless the enemy is running similarly fast builds to mine because I have near max movespeed.

If you play a slow build, you're just going to have to accept losing sometimes when the numbers aren't in your favor and the enemy doesn't come head-on.

There is literally no mechanic in the game that can prevent this. Faster builds played smarter in greater numbers beat everything. Just a hard/cold reality. The exchange is that faster builds are at a HUGE disadvantage in even number fights.

So no, I'm not telling you to get more people. I'm saying get a build designed for closing on them, or don't complain when you can't. Though I will point out that a Thursar or Ohgmir who puts points into archery can pull a stronger bow. So just firing back can be a counter in some situations. It's amazing how many heavy melee builds have no bow even when they get the skills and mats for free though.

Im not talking about using slower build tho. A veela will get stickied by a no stam bow the same way as the archer only has to maintain him on his sight range. If you can reset from any fight with your fast build then you just havent fought any players with no stam bows.

Try zigzagging.

And you do get stammed if chasing with a bow and shooting. If you don't chase then the distance will rapidly increase the percentage of shots you miss. It's hard enough to hit people in MO2 compared to MO1 as it is. Stop standing still and you'll be fine.

So are you denying the existance of no stam bows? How are some players able to not stam out while sprinting + shooting then?

No stam bows while standing still? Sure. That's the only kind I make.
This idea bow players are able to chase forever and not stam out while at the same time doing considerable damage? Hogwash.

Interesting. So I guess these players are using some kind of software or maybe they found some exploit that lets them sprint while shooting without losing stam.

using a lower str bow lets you get more shots in before you stam out. if you're a veela, you can use the clade gift to stam back up to full and keep chasing/shooting, but i havent seen any actual 'no-stam' bows, so it would be nice if someone had a video or something to showcase it, otherwise i'd tend to agree they dont exist

i never requested a recipe, but a video of someone firing repeatedly while sprinting and showing no extra stam drain would go a long way to prove the existence of such a thing.

Those are not no-stam bows. There is no bow that allows you to chase and shoot without stamming out. I said it in my comment.

I guess I have just been hitting the guys too hard with my arrows and should have expected nerf requests.

Hello Nemesis.
I have tried many bows and unless you go for a 40str bow doing no damage, you are having an impactfull stam drain. You should record if you see something suspicious. But for example, any time i fight you, i stop chasing for that reason : i run out of stam cause i shot many arrows at you. Maybe i havent found that magical bow receipt yet. Or maybe you encountered a player using something else... We have seen weird stuffs happening recently :D
I am simply curious. Who's that deadly archer using no stam bow that you've met ?
