Meduli had a king years ago. RegularJJ presented solid credencais to claim its sovereignty, although it finally lost its throne in wars.
When I was a humble trader at DUPP I tried to create a merchant council to govern the city, but the idea failed.
There were also a couple of dictators and some aspiring king and queen.
No one prospered too much.

FYI- As Najwalaylah points out, the new landmass is HUGE. I ran from the gates of Tindrem to Gk and it was easily and hour. That's a LOT of ground to cover.
