That is basically Haven. Haven is the PVE server now. You learn and play there without the risk of PVP and you can get a good grasp of how the game is played without risk of players killing you.
I'm not saying that the PvE server is correct... I can't even imagine it. Must be PvP and PvE...
It is possible to vote and attack, but unfortunately the update speed is slow and we would get the idea in a year :)
Heaven is very poor and I would say 10% of the game for PvE...
PvE players can be comforted by seeing the consequences of their killers...e.g. a bounty hunter or murderer will be an outlaw and will not be accepted in a certain country and city, thanks to which he will lose his reputation, but in another city (murderer's city) he will have discounts and other benefits) It would be interesting to see a prison where the party would have to post bail or something. ...
To sum it up, I'm definitely not in favor of a PvE server, because it would just be a useless farming simulator.

Henrik has mentioned many times reasons why game will always be full loot and ffa pvp so its never gonna change. He won't change his mind about this even if it brings more new players because it would ruin all the core systems in game. This is clearly passion project to Henrik so he will go down with this path rather than changing game to something he wont like (or copy to every mmo on market like new world, eso).
Henrik is a classic example of a sigma male, basically someone who will follow their dream and vision to the ends of the earth even if no one else walks beside him. For that, he has my respect.

I dunno. Maybe I used to believe that. I don't anymore. Shit is just weird now. I mean, on one hand, they cleaned up a crazy shit show, but on the other hand... I really don't think they expected that beginning thing to happen, and it changed everything.
STILL even before that, he def softened his vision to be more accessible. I have a sneaking suspicion his vision is tied to what certain people want, and those people may or may not be padding his pockets. :/

Rather than sigma, perhaps I am schizophrenic.

I didn't get x amount of money dumped on me, but I can say if you are truly following your dream and vision to the end of the earth, opportunities are very limited unless you find a mentor that is basically A. influential and B. awed by you. Once you lose that, it can get pretty grim at times. I say that w/ utmost empathy cuz I actually understand, but I'm sure you kinda get what I'm saying.

I think the solution would be ONLY a PVE server but include GUILD warfare which deems opposing guild members at war are 24/7 open to pvp ANYWHERE they meet each other. Deem any guild can be at war with upto 5 other guilds at any one time and allow sieging of all their property. Wars last for 1 month unless the other guild surrenders outcome is decided on highest number of kills of opponents or base flag capture. Wars are optional ie a guild can say no to a war declaration. A war win is allotted 5 points and your guild position is on a ladder - a winner is declared and determined over a full season. A season maybe 1 year in duration. At the end of a season there is one month between the start of a new season and the last - giving guilds time to restock and rebuild where and if necessary - during this one month time span no wars maybe declared.

basic economic principle is the value of something needs a driving force. For this it's PvP, game would burn without pvp; even w/ all the duping pvp still keeps economics working on some level (cept books!!.) Just learn to think of them as elite mobs. lol. You will never get mad again.

Can I try to do it like in elite dangerous? When everyone is running on the same server, do players not see each other on PVP and PVE and cannot interact? There aren't many PVP players anyway, and PVP players won't lose anything from this. Of course, this will affect the economy of the game if there is only one market, so it's worth considering some of the features of the PVE mode.

Elite is not a single server game. Its thousands of instances connected together.each instance has a cap on how many players can be in it. Cant remember the number but it wasnt very high. So no, you cant see every player in your surroundings, only the ones hat can fit in your instance. The other players will be in other instances even if if thy are in the same spot as you. Also, ED has solo mode which completely removes pvp for those that dont want it. Its a completely different system than MO.

Everyone seems too stuck on their own perspective to realize the overall point. MO2 Is a perfect example of a game that could work both ways. The bosses and amount of cooperation needed to take them down makes it a perfect PVE game as well. The overall point is it is designed for a certain category of players who don't want anything changed. There is another category of players who won't play it the way it is, but would play the hell out of it if it was PVE. So...... Leave one server as it is now, make another that is PVE based with duels and guild wars allowed, but no killing blues, and you would have twice the amount of players, therefor Henrik's dumbass would make twice as much money.

PvE servers would not suit the game. It would be completely boring :D SV made this game and knew what they were getting into. Full loot open world pvp enabled MMORPG with a persistent world. Yes balancing something like this and making sure it doesnt devolve into a gankbox, even in theory, is damn hard.
But it should be possible, just needs a little good will, time and talent. Right now i feel MO2 is kinda on the way on devolving into a gankbox but with an actual alliance/faction/TC system, rules for guild towns and taxes it can still get where it needs to be.

The more they appeal to PVEers the more the game strays from it's niche. Stray from the core niche and you end up competing with other huge games that are PVE focused. It is just not a good idea to touch PVE servers when there are already so many other PVE games out there that facilitate what you're suggesting, but better.

Their focus should be entirely on the core design of the game. Refining it, making it more true to it's original vision, not pandering to a market that is already oversaturated.

I disagree completely. MO2 offers something that other games do not. In fact a lot that other games don't. It would only seem boring to those who like to run around in animal packs hunting down easy prey. I tried to set up the arena for fair pvp fights. 1v1 2v2v 3v3 and all open to bets. I thought people would love the idea of climbing the ranks to best and of course betting on their favorite fighters. Nobody was interested. And I mean NOBODY. Everyone likes to act like they enjoy good pvp, but it's obviously a lie. They just enjoy pking helpless. That's why it's called griefing. MO2 is a gankbox and nothing more. Sucks such a great game isn't worth playing.

And as far as a PVE server "ruining" the game. Don't play the PVE server if you don't like it. Are you worried that enough people will be tired of getting griefed by you and go to the PVE server? Are you worried there won't be enough easy kills? Maybe only the other fighters would play that server and then you wouldn't be able to easily grief and now pvp would be a challenge? Be honest here. How does adding a PVE server ruin your perfect little gankbox?

A nearly thirty-year old mmorpg called Ultima Online actually did just that way back at the turn of the century, ultimately lost both the PvP and PvE crowd, and is now a mere shadow of its former self.

A more recent example would probably be Legends of Aria, that went into development with full PvP and full looting which drew in a lot of the UO vets who wanted a return to the glory days of UO. Then just before launch they suddenly announced that they were ditching those rules to go full PvE-centric. The announcement caused a huge backlash and a lot of the backers left, the game never took off and was essentially dead on arrival.

There are some things that history repeatedly teaches, but like the saying goes some do not learn from history and are doomed to repeat it.

The bosses take minimal cooperation. All you need is numbers in this game to kill bosses. There are zero anti-zerg mechanics for bosses, unless something has changed recently (which I doubt). I myself can enjoy actual difficult PvE in games, but this just aint it man. If you wipe on a boss, just add more bodies until you don't. Its really as simple and boring as that. There isn't any skill involved.

Also a PvE server is just the death of the game. The whole niche of this game is that its a single server persistent open world where every type of player is thrown into the same world. Historically, in MO1, this created many alliances and non-aggression pacts between PvP guilds and PvE/trading guilds. It also allowed full trader guilds to thrive during war times. Many PvE guilds love that part of the game as it also makes every single item have value because you can die at anytime and lose it. The game was just designed around it, and adding a PvE server would just be the actual death of the game.

If anything we need a damn NA server rather than some PvE server.

Yeah I watched your video and it's pretty obvious why that game failed. They switched the WHOLE game. You can't do that. And by a PVE server I only meant no rpking, Guild wars would still be a thing including all of the games sieging mechanics. If you want a full rpk game where people mindlessly slaughter each other then play the rpk server. I understand the idea of killing and looting things off of other players, and that would be great if that's how it actually worked. However in my over 480 hours I can't count how many times my horse and I were killed while mining and nothing was taken from me. They didn't want my ore, or armor, weapons, etc. Hence why I called it a gankbox. Some of us don't enjoy hours of meaningless slaughter. Guild wars? Hell yeah. Making sure I'm in a larger group so they we run around and slaughter helpless, usually naked, players for "fun"? I don't find that fun. And the bounty system to try to level it out is a joke. People running around through town with over 400 kills. If you wanted to be a murderer in UO you would build a house outside of town and have an alternate character or friend to do your town runs. You appeared red on everyone screen the moment they saw you making it very dangerous to be a murderer. That made sense. Anyway obviously a lot of you enjoy the mindless slaughter bordering on griefing, so enjoy your game. I don't know why I bothered talking about this anyway. Can't teach logic.

Thats how it was in Mortal 1. For some reason they changed it to this new half-baked faction/rep system they came up with. When they spoke about it before the game even launched, I liked the idea of it because I thought factions and pledging yourself to that faction would actually matter and mean something. I thought it would give different rewards and quests depending on which faction you chose (Yeah i was delusional to think SV would do this).

As for the mindless slaughtering part, as someone who has played the red lifestyle ever since we had statloss when dying, I agree with you fully. The game absolutely is riddled with people who just come up and kill you and your mount for zero reason other than just simply because they can. I myself used to do this a lot because it was the only game that would allow you to do this, but also because it USED to mean you would get PvP because that guy would run into town and yell "reds outside" and the town milita would get together and come fight. Now they replaced that whole mechanic with just having to dodge NPC guards while still ganking people. I'm kinda going off topic though...

I've been a big advocate for giving more of a good reason not to just kill everyone you see as a red. Instead of punishing red players, the game should reward you for being a "blue" player. That could be done by some religion system, factions, etc. The bounty hunter system is just yet another half-baked meme that doesn't prevent any of this. So I would imagine most players would agree with your frustation here and be fine with a good system that actually helped deter it from happening, but a lot of us just kinda instantly went to "hell no" when we heard PvE server.

I'm glad you understand better. How about instead of PVE we just say non RPK? Or a more balanced system. Maybe making completing a bounty incredibly lucrative? I have found that people come in all balances. Some are more evil side, wanting to kill for pleasure, and others are more light sided. However the majority goes for whatever is more lucrative. So maybe balance the scales?
