Yes, funny to start again to play MO1! But there are some active small guilds in the game. When you would travel through the world, you can even see active keeps and TC structures in both Myrland and Sarducaa. I had a post here in the forum some month ago about the active structures.

We had this discussion even before release. And the limit has been changed several times and got harder. The problem is that experienced players would transfer stacks of materials into areas without those materials without any risk.

I guild mate told me that a Cancel button appears after paying the subscription for the first time. As long as a player is running the initial game time which comes with the paid game or with the three month action in November 2023, the player has no subscription.
