Robmo is likely flawed but I would abandon this crusade of complaining because someone was saying stuff behind your back or what not. Let’s say you achieve victory and cause Robmo to be unemployed. Will that be something you congratulate yourself for later. “Yay I complained and got somebody fired”. This is nasty behavior even if you’re correct in what you’re saying. Instead I suggest we focus on what gnidexsaid above and put pressure on sv to replace Henrik as a game designer. While my personal feelings toward him aren’t good it is because of the incompetence in designing the game. I have no desire to see him suffer that is just what he himself wants.

100 haha.

Although, it is tied in a bit because we need ROB to help us! The most important thing Henrik needs to realize is that there are people who aren't playing the game who could be playing the game and that the people who are still playing are not the greatest barometer of how to make the game good. That's not saying in any way to ignore them, but if they are the few multibox leftovers, they might play regardless.

I appreciate SV trying to give people support for sticking with them, but they continue to make the game worse. They will need to stop...

or add spider mounts! I was thinking of this, and I wonder if they will be able to shoot webs from their mouth while you ride them. haha.

The only reason I still hang around here (and Reddit,) other than laughing at some funny stuff people post, is the hope that they are finally like OK we need to change. I can't believe I still think it can happen.

I think this too... When all the temporary visiting carebears leave and numbers are like sub 250... They'll wake up and say "Damn maybe we shouldn't have abandoned our original hard core audience" and start making changes to "un-nerf" the sand box and restore it to what we had in the original MO... Thievery and all...

We're getting there. Game is currently at all time lows.

@Robmo No offense, but what do you actually do? Why is this salary better used for the work you to instead of a junior software developer or game designer?
I collect and direct feedback, I do a bit of PR and communication (as you see the most), I work for the QA team, and I do a bit of producing with inter team communication.

I promise I am not getting paid the big bucks. We are an Indie team with Indie funds.

I do not moderate the discord. The discord moderators are mostly volunteers except for the lead.
It shows they are not suited to the job. Waaay to trigger happy to ban people. Think about this next time you guys at SV cannot figure out why your game is bleeding players way faster than the first one.

Whatever fits your narrative, I am not hear to argue. I just gave my side of the story. Just wanted to clear up misinformation or information twisted in bad faith.
If you believe those things, i'll leave it be going forward. Good luck, hope you find love for the game again instead of hate.

If I provide evidence of all of this, catching you out in another blatant lie will you step down?

If you read the leaked moderator chat it actually shows them being pretty level headed and having to frankly shut Robmo down on his crusade to remove people he did not like.

Since then however the lead stepped down (I wonder why) and many others of the good ones have gone.

I played almost at MO1 release so it might be funny for some people what some stuff was promised then.

- Roaming khurite towns (vadda, mohki and bakti should be moving as nomad camps, thats why at least on MO1 those towns were just a bunch of tents) and basically all the current npc towns are just placeholders and should be replaced eventually by player towns.
- All the npcs will be replaced by player professions and the game wouldnt have any npc or npc town (just tindrem for new players). Everything that vendors sell will be crafteable that's it bandages, spellbooks, arrows, cooking pots, the map, the compass, etc
- The first player who explored some area could name it. Like oficially, on maps, lore, etc
- Skills books will be crafteable by players with that skill and scribing. The "first skill books" were drops in the wilds. So no librarian npcs needed neither.
- Unique scrolls for unique spells then that player could scribe that unique spell.

Its also worth mentioning Henrik promised us, MO1 vets, all the MO1 content in MO2. We get what, a couple of lykiators instead all the lykiators, two molvas instead all the molvas, half elementalism, etc

The problem is not promising stuff is then explaining to you that you are basically dumb by not "understanding correctly" what he meant.

Like the never ending talk about pets and pathing and preaching about how a pet is a "different entity" not like a world of warcraft pet ability.

No, Henrik, your team is small and struggles to fix navmesh and navigation, thats it. Its not just pets also players, AIs and pickables get stuck all the time everyday. Pet getting stuck in the other part of the river when you swim through it has nothing to do with "entities", "AI" and "hardcore mmorpg development".

For any curious, this is a MO1 2013 patch notes under UE3, see how the same coping regarding server capacity, game performance, "wars performance", is literally the same than in 2024, SV could just copy paste that into today steam notes, note also the "polish and bug fixing".

Mortal Online
May update and patch.

Today we are releasing a very important patch that significantly improves the game performance, to better support large scale population and wars with excellent performance. Updates have been made in the capital city of Tindrem which has, in the past, lacked proper optimization which made clients struggle. It should now be an optimal starting location for all new players both in terms of performance and using a short and easy tutorial for all new players to easier get into the game mechanics. Lots of polish and bug fixing has been worked on in this patch.

Mortal Exodus is just another slap to the playerbase. Another "you are dumb, you dont understand...."

Henrik what if you explain clearly to us what's going on?
  • Why did you have for months mortal exodus link in your discord profile?
  • What UE5 network backend tech are you exactly selling to that studio when an empty town gives 10 fps?
  • Why Mortal Exodus uses same assets than MO2? did Mortal Exodus bought the epic assets? did MO2 sold any (if it has any) unique MO2 asset to ME?
  • How is it possible selling that tech, shipping that tech so other studio can use it, maintaining that tech with future UE5 patches, etc doesnt steal development time for MO2?
  • Who did do/help with Mortal Exodus trailer, MO2 devs or ME devs? Who put the money?
  • Why Mortal Exodus studio is casually located also on Sweden? woah, what a coincidence! and on Malmö! wow!
  • Why Mortal Exodus was announced when MO2 was on UE4 and now Mortal Exodus says its on "UE5" did you sell a UE4 tech and that studio upgraded it to UE5 by themselves? woah, you should hire them for MO2!
  • Why we dont know anything about that new studio/company? which kind of marketing strategy is keeping that in secret?
Its just pretty much looks like a MO3 announcement but too early to dont kill MO2 just "yet". And everything smells to MO2 devs spending time on projects like exodus or dragon trailer that will never be launched.

But yeah, we are too dumb, we are not game developers, we dont have 20 years experience in the industry, TeAm CaN wOrK oN sEvErAl ThInGs At OnCe, they know better...sigh.

Exactly, a slap and a spit too. It just goes to show how disconnected Henrik is from the game's playerbase. I was watching the Exodus announcement live on stream and it was obvious how he actually thought people would be happy hearing it. It was plastered all over his face when people started to ask if it's an "out of season april fools joke".
And most of these points how it's not going to take away from MO2 development is a straight lie to our face. Who else but FJ will be there putting out fires?...dude's the only programmer on this project. And the tech that is being mentioned craps out at 2k players.
Who in their right mind would buy this tech with SV's track record with bugs?? Who else but FJ can even offer second level support...

I have never seen other CEO of a game talking so much about the game engine. Its like if Henrik was more worried on using a specific engine and "selling the tech" than worried about his paying customers and the actual game.

He just totally lost the focus, he is obsessed about the engine like being the first mmorpg on UE5. Then sandboxes like eve or albion have thousands of players and nobody cares about the engine.

He is only interested on selling UE5 network tech and we are literally his testers.

He is not even worried about low player count, he just says is "normal cycles" and there is nothing there to fix. Totally disrespectful for current players with active subs.

That push for UE5 cost them 30% of the playerbase minimum. And for what? A bit better lighting? The same node line exploits and bugs are there, they have serious concurrency issues with those that make most of the plethora of exploits in this game possible.

At this point you have only yourself to blame to still believe the BS Henrik spews. His daddy's money can cover Robmo and FJ's paychecks, but it can't cover making the game good.
