"Player skill maters."

Oh, and I'm never going to let anyone forget this.

"The next to last part we aim to deliver over time is specific weapon group special attacks that offer specific results that could be breaking a block for instance. We are also looking to test a kick (old farmerjoe drop kick) everyone can learn to use that also in the right condition can disrupt a block. This will be tested and evaluated before it goes on the server but being defensive is very easy and too powerful today so we are looking to increase the power in being offensive as well. Our goal is to promote tight and coordinated player skills over a zerg that may lack the skills. That brings our next and last part, quick steps to be able to both avoid but also charge in an effective way. Combined with the different weapon group special attacks there is already an enormous depth that requires high player skills compared to most combat games on the market. We always target that player skills matters the most and gear secondary."

So nearly a year later, we've yet to see any arrival of a side step, a kick, methods to defeat zergs with skill, special weapon skills, etc.

All I want are promises so I can have a little bit of hope in this game. Right now I'm just waiting to see their direction after housing/placeables and then polishing is done.

Really need to give the community some hope with balancing even if its half a year away give us something to hold on to.

Honestly.

Yeah.

If we had a GUARANTEE that things would change at some point, rather then this silence that continues on, and on, and on.. I'd be happy.

But we just have to assume things because the only interaction we get is a stray comment here and there every few months.

I've said it many times before. But if you want a purely skill based game play a 1v1 fighting game or something. It's pretty rare to find a fair fight in this game. One group always has an advantage
You can have it tho. No reason you cant have a skill based mmo.

We're not looking for something overly esoteric. It already pretty much existed at one point in MO 2.

The challenge is how do you get someone not to cry to Henrik when they lose? I haven't been able to solve that one.

You can't. People will always make excuses, even if they're in the wrong, at fault, or in this specific example - worse at the game.. or so people are lead to believe.

All you have to do is provide more tools and options for them to overcome their short comings with other mechanics.

I'll throw some examples up.

Aralis is an older guy. Terrible PvP player. Yet, his guild was caught up in a ton of PvP and sieging? It's like he utilized other tools within the game to fill the spots he couldn't do very well.

Kuthara goes around and acts like he is one of the most important players, and some people believe him and in doing so believe in his guild. Joining it, allying with it, and supporting it. He might lie about stuff, but since he has a way with certain people he can make up for his short comings as a dick who isn't genuine.

Killox is a hateful, rage-filled human who is a sub-par player and lashes out at everyone whether they are a stranger or his most helpful guild members. Yet, it's this persona he puts forward of anger, toxicity, and the want to be a "SAVAGE" and a "BANGER" that draws others like him to him.

Three very, and I mean VERY different players yet they all did some things better then the others; but also had short comings which they overcame by utilizing the sand in the box.

If that doesn't spell it out, I'll just say it.

Star Vault shouldn't add new things, then abandon them. Everyone remember when they added factions in MO1? A lot of people legit don't recall that - cause it was a half-baked idea that was thrown in and never given any love. Star Vault likes to add in new things, then hop on to the next thing.

Star Vault are frogs, and there are lily pads they like to jump to and from and they also have holes in them; so when they start to sink they just say "Okay! Onto the next lily pad to stay afloat a little while longer!"

I'm a PvP player. But I know dang well that the game needs proper PvE and systems in place that empower cooperation (or war) against players. Players need to feel like they can fulfill a role in the game regardless of their age, knowledge, mechanical ability, etc. There are people who exist in the community as 'living proof' that this can happen. Hell, I used to play with a retired war vet. who was in his 60's and it didn't stop him from doing PvP. He was AWFUL AT IT! But he sure did enjoy hitting people and then cackling.

Combat is an integral part of the game. In my opinion, it should of been one of the biggest focuses of SV. Crafting is an integral part of the game, it should have way more focus. PvE content that is meaningful and not just "X camp with Y mob". Where are the roaming patrols of MO1 that never came?

tl;dr

If you want someone to stay in MO2 and not be upset with loss, make what already is present in the game better instead of shoveling more unfinished shit on top of it.

Not worth it to start wasting time on combat again. So much other stuff that needs love.
Maybe a few months after launch when they have everything under control.

Its also interesting that people in here want parry normalization. You guys do realize that a parry normalization would make the combat even more sluggish and clunky right?

It would most likely be slowed down and not instant as it is now in order for the system to work.
Could be wrong on this, but it seems logical.
How this would affect gameplay idk.

Honestly this is an issue. These things should be more in place before launch, not after launch. That's the wrong way around. Launch is an important date for folks, and a large playerbase will hopefully come and check out the game during that period. But if the game is a clunky unbalanced mess, we're just gonna end up with MO1 all over again.

They finally added water combat in. But, Star Vault has a record of having a decent patch out of ten. So unless the next patch that follows it is good, then we're just taking another two steps back.
