no mounts in roadmap?

checking the website, it seems that mounts are quite far in the roadmap, placed even after the persistent release (early access?).

I wish SV would reconsider and try to push mounts a bit earlier in the development, even if the system is absolutely primitive like it was in MO1 beta (no taming skills, no breeding). It seems we are quite behind on the roadmap, which means the plan can be altered on course from the planned one.

as of now, the huge map makes travelling on foot particularly tedious, and I think mounts are a core feature more important than others, like cooking and alchemy for instance

ps: on a side note, if cooking will be the same as MO1 with food reserves, it could be delayed even further: it did not really add nothing of value to the gameplay, except an extra gimmick you had to take care to at worst, and some RP flair at best.

I have to agree with the OP; to make a world, what, 5 times bigger, then ask people to beta test it without mounts, is really shooting yourself in the foot. The first thing that goes into a PVP game beta is combat, and mounted is part of combat. That's *two* reasons.

seb said mounts will be in for persistence, since it's been delayed

i wish cooking would be more useful than just for reserves :(
Size food? Heal food?
It's not like there isn't anymore than reserves...

"Under Development" doesn't mean anything for time. It's just what they are doing and not focusing on. In theory it might even come out before other things that have a more specific timeframe.

Getting drunk. Weight gain or loss and potentially affected attributes in general. Prominence is meh, if that's back again.

and sophistication ?
i did see mention some time ago where food is intended to play a bigger role,
also with weight gain and loss affecting physical appearance in game
- from a vague recollection of Henrik chatting in Discord

also mounts plz

From what I've seen the map isn't actually 5 times bigger. It takes just a little over twice as long to walk to places in MO2 vs MO1. That leads me to believe it's only 2x bigger than the original. Otherwise it would take 5 times as long to walk anywhere. Unless it's new content not pertaining to the original map of MO1.

Henrik has said it's about a 5-6 times bigger map.
I could pretty much jog to the jungle and bring horses back regularly without too much bother in MO,
currently in MO2 it feels like it takes longer than that just going from the pig farm to Fabernum

Two handed weps used from a mount should destroy stamina or be extreamly hard to swing. No more 14kg cuprum axes and 16 kg mallets. So cheesy. Maybe only some spears being viable two handed from horseback.

I just hope, mounts will be "realistic". Like no unkillable flying dragon-horses which can run with a speed of light and carry a fully armoured knight with 300 kgs of extra stuff stored in some endless backpack.

Well, I meant sophistication with prominence, it's just a meh mechanic anyway.

There are mounts in the current road map in the "under development" section, means January or February: https://www.mortalonline2.com/alpha/#roadmap
Well, it really means nothing, could be any second. We really don't know what under development means, could just mean they are working on it on the side and releasing it whenever ready.

I could agree on the carry weight reduction, but speed is very much needed in this huge map!

I agree but horses should be really expensive and easy to kill, otherwise everyone will be riding around the map and it will seriously affect game pace.

well 2 points here:

- if taming is in the game, horses will never be expensive, as literally everyone can go out and get one. in MO1 bred horses got quite expensive at the beginning (like 100g per horse), but after you got a good pair you were set for life, as you could replicate those almost indefinitely. at the same time, gold and wealth itself is relative, as you reach a point in the game where everyone has ammassed hoardes of it. maybe bred horsed should be hard to make but not so easy to replicate (so that the price will stay always high).

- the vast majority of players will ride, no question about it. the map is so big it takes literally hours to move around on foot between 2 towns (on a maxed character). I don't think new players will be willing to play a walking simulator

I see your point but what you present here is a typical characteristic of a broken game economy, which basically sould be the foundation of any good MMORPG. If everyone will have infinite gold and mounts, it will basically mean the game became just a PvP arena and its concept is dead. That's why devs should look into this very seriously from the beginning. Also, I think that "taming" should be very limited and not everyone should be able to act as a tamer (like in UO, where tamers were super cool but they were also very limited in any other activities because of skill cap).
