Ghost travel as a peoples' main means of travelling considerable distances in this game is bad game design. Players should be encouraged to go out into the world and traverse large bodies of land. Of course, since its beta, we can all expect how that would go with reputation not meaning anything atm and boredom at an all time high.
Although there does need to be improvements in ways to travel across the map, in my opinion, spirit running is currently very strong, uninteractive, and only costs some health reserves. If a game system is implemented I'd like it to be socially interactable so that its not a closed system where it becomes a meaningless tedious task. The cost and time it takes should be proportional to the distance traveled.
I've seen some suggestions in the discord conversations on some games that have portals in the open world where you must pay a costly price (gold, certain gem, etc) Other games have NPC transportation: WoW's deeprun tram/zeppelins/boats Archeage's blimps/ships/carriages.
I think there is lore in MO2 that there is a tunnel system that runs beneath the Talus mountains from GK all the way to Tindrem, and there is a north and south river that runs through the middle of Myrland; too bad boats come to mortal in 2025.
