I'm not one who likes posting on forums because as always you get the people who enjoy being toxic.
But after this weekend, I decided after what happened let the hater's hate.
I registered and started posting. But had something happened to us this weekend we never expected EVER. I would have done this sooner but had midnight shifts.
I have been playing this game with my friends for a few weeks. I always read the forums but never registered. I read the positive things and the negative things and yes many times just shook my head. After leaving Haven landing on main land I was player killed by a guild within a matter of minutes, yes it's part of the game. But what was weird is that the guild leader who streams and promotes this game always brags "we don't kill newbies, we don't kill single players". (cough bs).(won't mention his name but he must have a lot of built up anger).Tip if your thinking about the game, please check out other streamers not just ones with big numbers.
I was never one for big guilds for some reason, they don't appeal to me. Well for 6 day's my friends and I farmed materials to place a house down for the patch that is coming. When we were placing the house, the same guild from before killed us and looted everything. We lost house deed, materials, crafting tables which was a medium, okay we lost everything. We were beyond mad, we were extremely #@#@# off.
Back to Morin Khur and start farming all over again. This one player was there chopping wood from the previous week. We usually just said hi and went about our day, but he asked how we liked our house and did we find a flat spot. I explained what happened and noticed that he had a guild tag above his head. I said wait isn't that a rpk guild? Turns out this character is one him and his daughter made together and that he usually plays his main when she is on.
I thought my mic was broke cause I didn't hear him reply and saw he disconnected When he came back I asked the same question and he replied ? Hey I love watching streams and listening to help chat but told him, I heard his guild rpked,pked newbies and didn't help others. He laughed and replied "never believe what you hear". Then I asked why was he here chopping wood when his guild was on the other side of the map. He replied "I farm sponge wood and donate it to my guild. He explained he wasn't great at player versus player so it is his way of contributing. Now I understand we all have thing's we love doing in games but this player was farming wood for hours, when I woke up he was there farming wood or just coming back from dropping some off.
He said be right back. My friend and I started chopping wood and 15 minutes later he showed up with 3 horses behind him. (we honestly thought he logged off or played us) but he unfriended the 3 horses and told us to take them and follow him to the bank. (my friend meanwhile is saying to me in my head set at the same time is he taking us to kill us?) . We followed him to the bank and next thing my trade window went up.
Inside was Small house deed tier 1,2,3 and furniture with 2 crafting tables. I clicked it off and said thanks but I couldn't accept. Clearly he isn't great at hearing cause the window popped up and again filled with those same items. In local chat were the words, don't believe everything you hear about guilds, and 3 smiles. He said if we did not take the items, he would drop them. My friend meanwhile is yelling in my ear TAKE IT, so we did. He then asked how much wood we needed and handed it over. For the longest time in real life , I lost my faith in humanity that people only thought of themselves and yet here in a video game, someone I didn't know that well, someone who I read and heard belonged to a guild that didn't help people now offer's me all this? I thanked him and all he could say is here is my discord and if you need help or get player killed again look for me here as well here is my discord. He gave me his guild's link if we decided to join a bigger one. Before you say it, I'm not a fan boy of any guild , I don't hate or have a favourite guild. The one thing this player said still even now sticks out in my mind. He said it's a game but the people I play with have not just been a group of players but they have been people who have made me become a better man.
To the player who helped me all I can say is that day you didn't just help me in game, you restored my faith in humanity. Chopping wood has to be the most boring thing in the game yet here is a player who chops wood for hours and hours and just gives it away to his guild? Most games everyone want's to be rich and have the nicest thing's in game. Final note Henrik thank you for making this game, I was really sinking to a low level of depression seeing how people outside of game have been treating each other. This was something I never ever expected.
Our house is placed, and we are paying it forward .
Fire thank you from the bottom of my heart, you not only left me speechless but you left me with 3 very happy friends who did not have to cut wood again . It still shocks me how someone can do that for hours and days.
I hope in time we feel brave enough to visit the part of the map his guild resides in. I would like to meet the people he spoke about.
