This should be pretty clear - Someone knowingly exploits the system in order to profit = Ban.

There SHOULD be a wall of shame. We see the same people come back time and time against after a ban. We have active people within the community who have done much worse than this and they just come back on new characters and slip back into the same Guilds. The issue is that for the most part SV are extremely poor at validating what action has been taken against them and also being open about what they did. This gives the person a chance to just drop straight back into the community.

If you do not like being known as a pathetic cheating loser, then do not do it. Most of these guys who cheat thrive of ego and rep, hit them where it hurts. Which is not a £5 account purchased from another country via a fake steam profile.
one can have 100 names on 100 accounts for less money than others are willing to pay for a spaceship of pixels etc.
There are Streamers with huge audiences earning lots of money who do questionable content at best.
What names do we blame and shame?
Does anyone believe you can blame an Alias name?
Or does anyone believe you can blame someone in the Internet and it doesnt produce some sort of bad fame that will be monetized like bad behaviour in streams is monetized.
Imho you are all dellusional.
You cannot change people and that is what the community and game suffers from, Gamers attitude gaming systems.
Again what Name you want to be on a wall of shame?
A spoofed Mac Adress maybe 😂

Because some people are all about ego. Putting their well known names out there utterly destroys that. Much worse punishment than a banned account.

real names you mean? good luck with that in Europe ^^
idk if that is allowed in the US, but would never been allowed in EU
the only way to deal with this is unfortunately not banning or blame and shame these gamers abusing bugs and glitches, it is even not the way to accuse their alter ego's even if they are famous streamers, they already have their audience who likes them for doing what they're doing, be it correct or not, be it exploiting, butg abusing, beeing toxic or whatever. I consider a lot stuff people do in the internet toxic and bullying and abusing bugs, glitches and exploit it. They have fans for doing so!
If you blame them, they will feel justified and blame the Devs with the general answer: if it is possible and i can do it, i do it!
If it is possible and Devs cannot prevent it other than banning, i buy another €3,50 or 4$ account from another country and do it further, because that is how i have fun, that is my "content" and in the worst case it is the content i get paid and applaud for.

If SV want to make MO2 successfull and get out of a niche and also want the game to survive they need to take unpopular actions to a lot of "hardcore" gamers and long term fans as half the server is abusing flawed gamemechanics and glitches as a "playstyle".
They need more harsh restrictions on almost everything and have their systems working, they need to make a lot of things so unattractive and not worth doing that people who exploit bugs, dupe or circumvent restrictions the game has for a purpose and for the games design impossible at best or at least just not worth to do.
Everything else will not work and cause the game to die slowly or only been alive for 500-1000 people who than can cheat, exploit, grief and bee toxic at each other until the game is no more fundable neither been lucrative for SV or any other publisher and financier.

Agreed with most of the posts here. Duping done on purpouse ( more than just a once or twice by mistake) should be a perma ban.

get your shit together SV. Stop going soft on cheaters and hackers. A slap on the hand simply encourages more people to cheat.

No one said real names. Well known names. For example everyone knows TyGuy, he comes back on his 15th account, people still know it is him. Or CDXX...

I only want transparency. I don't care about shaming some kid but being able to see that people are being banned and then the community can keep track of these people coming back on their 15th account is good.

SV is going to go soft on this particular dude, and I doubt they will do anything about all the resources that got laundered. Same dude would go around accusing Karni Mata of cheating but only he got caught red handed. Funny how hes allowed to accuse others and not get banned. Just like how it will be funny when hes back from his temp ban with all of his guilds assets still in place.

I think it's impossible. I think even in the best case, enough damage has been done to where it might not even matter, or it would take about a year of play to recover to normalcy. It's just the way it is, but yea, a lot of it is ego. It's easy to see these people for who they are, even thru their foruming. Who is well adjusted, who is not, who is living vicariously thru MO. None of those things make it more likely to exploit, but if you get a large group of people like that + knowing there won't be much punishment, it's bound to happen. I mean, to me, even the haven thing was game breaking. That was the point where you realize it's all a joke, and that was like day2.

I do think getting labeled a hacker by your 'known name' is a big ego hit, but I think people having the mats + being like pwn'd you etc is also a big ego boost. There were kids in BDO in my short time there who got banned for paying people to level on their acct and came back and still made "top in class," and even had a little story about how their life was busy at the time so... just different types of people. Very few people actually want competition. TO ME competition is fun. I don't even mind playing from a disadvantage, just something that offers a unique situation (of which there should be many, but people go into the same loops, sadly.)

I think it has a lot to do w/ life experience (positive/negative experiences in competitive environments.) I've given 'the psychology of the sandbox' a lot of thought because I've talked to just about everyone over MO1-MO2. All I can say is this game fucks with people's brains, and I do think they can rationalize many things. The problem with your suggestion is that, as you stated, most of the audience is in the 'win at all costs' camp, ends justify means, etc. If you come down hard on those people, it's hard to say new people will replace them. Not to mention, a lot of the game is probably 'over tuned' to make it harder to farm shit because of exploits. Even MA PvE is an exploit haha. The whole game is founded on exploits.

It still has its charm though. It's a closed space. I say let people have their duped mats and just try to enjoy the world. I'm trying to find something to do that's different, that hasn't been done before, like in MO1. That will be satisfying even against the backdrop of hax.

one can have principles or not, if people are rather compensating in a video game and need to win at all cost, but ruin it for the many players who play for fun only and have some emapthy for their fellow players and take care also for their experience or would be just honorable and play fair aka wont exploit and play the game like intended, it would be all fine.
A working social environmant can deal with some black sheeps and wont suffer too hard from it, but if more than 10% are giving a shit they destroy it.

The whole game is founded on exploits.
i dont think so, but a very big portion of the gamers gaming systems MO community isn't fun to play or compete with because they define playing a game includes exploiting and giving a shit about how it is intended to play.
If i take it to the basics, the game is meant to be played with one character on one server for many reasons, yet 95% of players run 2-3 or even more accounts and circumvent intended restrictions. They exploit! you can say no all day, it is what it is!
Not intended, else it would be implented and said different by Henrik, simple as that.

I play a human far from meta and only for fun, i will turn the game off if i cant make a living this way in Myrland because everyone around me is exploiting, overy competetive, want to win at all cost over having some fun and reasonable fair PvP.
I dont compete with gamers gaming systems, i dont compete or play with people telling me i'm shit and feel the need to bungle, exploit and cheat and whatever glitch they abuse.
It's very simple, i'm a player and i played my first videogame in 1984 and if i lose fun playing a game, because the community is toxic, exploiting and cheating is a thing the developers can't handle i say: sadly a good concept on paper, some beautiful graphics and cool gemamechanics but sorry, the flaws and downsides are too many and it takes away the fun too often and in general.
I have games i like to play that work perfectly fine. I admit online games are more interesting, because you allways hope to find likeminded players and the community be reasonable and ok to interact with. And also i'm a realist and know what it was the last 25 years i dont give up my hope some developoer can and will do it. Imho they can, but they all dont have the balls to do it properly and stand for their principles rather than blabla and in the end not doing it, because of fear and money.

seems i'm not everyone - good i have done all right if i dont know :D
What i dont know, cant hurt me.
I should stop reading into the game too much and just play the game and evaluate or judge it it by having fun or not.

have fun - stun 🖖

I've already lost all trust and respect for SV. This post just proves why they don't deserve it. How is perma ban not the ONLY option? Every other succesful full loot PVP game hands out perma bans for this behavior like it's candy on Halloween. Its why their playerbase trusts them and these things are rare. Yet, it's rampant in this game.

"Recent Bans

The Dev team started investigating the database to track some of the foul play that was discovered lately. They have found evidence of these bad occurrences and have already PERMNAMENTLY banned accounts that were using duplication methods. These accounts were not only from the video, but newly discovered villains unrelated to said case.

The investigation is still ongoing but I felt it was appropriate to give an update.

I want to use this time to remind the community that talking about moderation actions, bans, and similar topics is against our rules of this Discord. Moderators will take action against people breaking these rules.

We also do not condone any kind of harassments of players, whether or not they broke the rules of the game. The GM and Dev team are handling it. Lets be Civil.

Take care Mortals."

They got some and some more that were not connected they said. But the person who said that they duped in discord and posted his ban showing that he was banned, Also said that he gave mats to his guild. So I hope that SV investigates that. Reddit has more info.

Part of the problem is we're not allowed to talk about these things in discord lol. Sure, it protects some innocent people but it let's a lot more guilty people go free. Censorship in a social game for talking about people breaking rules, or actions taken against those people... idk man. I don't like it. Leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Thankfully, we have Reddit.

Anyways, appreciate the update. Glad they followed through on perma ban.

Yeah the censorship is the worse part of the game. Mainly because in the past nothing was done and SV has no foundation of trust to stand on with the players that they will ban the pay pigs.

Another issue is the players who let the cheaters play with them. These guys who actually manage to get a ban, just come back and join the same group. Shouldn't the group be telling Sv "hey the guy you banned is back in our guild on this new acc"?. If SV had a strict policy like playing with known cheaters can get you in trouble, people would rat the cheaters out instantly to save their own skins. Right now theres no reason to not let them in your guild. They might conveniently donate you a stack of cronite "they worked hard for". Or catch that guy who definitely got away.

And I'm not saying players should harass the people who get banned. But a perm ban should be a perm ban, they need to stay that way and the groups they play with shouldn't tolerate it either.

Hey Mortals,

First off we appreciate your patience with us coming forward. We wanted to have an action plan for handling the situation before we said anything concrete.

All types of exploitation, cheating and similar activity is investigated and dealt with as we discover them. This is an ongoing battle we fight to make sure that the players get the best and **fair** experience that can be provided by the game.

First, the recreation of this particular event is known to us and we are working on ensuring this cannot be replicated in the future.

Second, the player/players who were involved in the most recent public incident **are** being dealt with. This will include temporary bans with complete inventory wipes. If the severity of the exploitation is extremely high, it will likely result in a permanent ban.

We are currently compiling a list who may have abused this issue and investigate to take action against those accounts as well. This includes players not involved with the video that has been posted around.

**DO NOT REPLICATE THESE ISSUES**

It will lead to disciplinary action. In general, we do not publicly allow for accusations inside our Discord Channels to protect those who may be innocent. This is a rule that applies to all cases, not just the most recent one. We ask that with this issue, and any future issues, we follow this rule. Refer to #rules (in Discord). Please allow the Dev and GM team to handle these issues.

The team is talking about a future "Wall of Shame" to be implemented in some way in the future. This is not a confirmation.

Our last request is to remember to treat your fellow players with respect. Personal disputes and arguments will not be tolerated. The game gives you to tools to "hash" it out with your enemies. We encourage some friendly fights in game.

Thank you for your time Mortals.
As much as I'm not a fan of censorship in certain ways I can accept it. What I would really like to see is more transparency in what you are doing to prevent and punish behavior like this. I think that would be important to show the community this isn't tolerated and you take it seriously.

Some games do weekly/monthly updates detailing how many people they've banned for this type of thing. It acts as a warning to others.

I believe in giving credit where credit is due. It's great you took this situation seriously and addressed it publicly to the community. It would be nice to see all situations where people are hacking, exploiting or duping taken this seriously and in a transparent way even when it doesn't rise to the event of public knowledge or goes viral.

To add to the above, I feel like a lot of devs, like SV, think that talking about all the hackers they banned lately makes the game look bad, because its also admitting that the game has cheating going on. But I feel like its the other way around. Talking about how many bans they did during the month, makes players think they are fighting to fix the issue, and hopefully doing a good job. Not talking about it, while we all know its going on, just makes the game look really bad. So if they are fighting it, they should be talking about it. Would make the game look a lot better.
