My ideal way to handle characters would be:

A. Allow multiple combat mains you can switch between at priests. In other words. All your characters move around the map together but you can only play one at a time. Work it into the lore. Multiple forms tied to a single soul or whatever. Plenty of ways to make it make sense.
B. Abolish profession points, make professions take longer to grind, turn item creation into a mini-game that lasts more than a few seconds. (This was tried in Wurm Online and works INFINITELY better than any half-assed solution SV has come up with, or any skill-cap system in any game ever TBH) Keep the professions account wide instead of character wide.

Of course, some of that would have been better done BEFORE they rushed a release.

But even if they magically coded in my ideal solution tomorrow, this game isn't sub-worthy. As one of my guildies keeps pointing out. He was promised domination was in and working when he bought the game. We still only have crabs. And that issue is small potatoes alongside things like the criminal system. At least have everything you CLAIM to have in-game, actually in-game and working before you start charging for it.

Also, while a test server makes no sense for an alpha or beta, while you are claiming a released title and charging a sub fee for it, people on your live server shouldn't need to be the ones who tell you that they get murdered by the guards for dueling a war target.

I agree, in a way.

I won't pay sub with current server lag and que (4 characters). It is quite absurd to even think about it at this point.

Yes, subs will kill population and that will kill the que. I will personally not pay because I have been in 30 minute+ que for days now, and will not support a company that is so schizophrenic in their solutions. It's just lie after lie after lie.

The only reason that only 1 character is allowed per account is so that the core 700 playerbase subs multiple times. To say that it's due to realism or RP reasons is just a joke. We are playing a game where you can carry a bag full of crushers on a horse; realism is not something this game does well.

Oh absolutely. There are multiple mechanics in this game meant to ENCOURAGE multi-accounting. I've brought this up until I was blue in the face with taming. If tames are tradeable why are taming and animal care not professions? Creature control is the ability to control a tame. Taming is to tames as weaponsmithing is to swords.

SV took the nonsensical side that taming is an action skill "because it's so powerful". Even though you can get 100% of that power taking only creature control skills on a main and putting taming and animal care on an alt. But it does encourage multiple subs.

I'd also level the same charge at some of their primary/secondary choices. Are blocking, sprinting, and combat maneuvering really optional? I'd answer no UNLESS you're running multiple accounts. Then it opens up a few build options without them that would be braindead to run as your main if you have 1 account. For instance, if your primary playstyle on a character is trading then you really want to focus only on evading combat and keeping your mount alive. All of those 3 skills are easy to drop on such a character. But that character cannot effectively engage in 90% of the content of the rest of the game.

If all 3 of those skills were made primary the net effect would be 3 more primaries the average build can max and a few alt-only mounted builds being forced to be viable on foot. Which I actually think would be a great thing if they used the opportunity to create a few more specialist skills spread across all the roles.

They're making objectively poor balance decisions from the standpoint of making the game as fun as possible from a single account, by making decisions that actively encourage players to run multiple characters. It's absolute nonsense and more people need to be calling them out on this crap.
