I dislike haven, but you realize it does serve a purpose... getting people past their refund time for MO2 haha. I don't understand why haven had to exist and at launch, the stark difference between instanced minifarms and Myrland really stands out. It DOES help people get started, but I would probably debate whether it is gonna help people stay. There's no reason NOT to farm all your stuff there unless you are stupid like me and believe there is something to be gained in Myrland by going early.
Haven also has allowed people to play the game while the servers are going to shit. It seems like they are highly prioritizing Haven servers over MO servers, or maybe it's easier to maintain a low pop instance than it is an open world.
It's very sad. Been waiting for MO2. Got over (or am trying to get over) a lot of the new changes they added, but Haven itself is an admission of defeat, if you think about it, it's saying that the game itself is impossible to bend into a new player friendly experience. That's sad. That's lack of insight. Need more creative APEX thinking haha. Nah but, really, that's where high level intellect comes into play. Imaginary intelligence. The game should not be a slog where new players get GY farmed trying to stat up. There should be TONS OF THINGS for new players to do, they should be milking cows and everything, you know? There should be so much stuff to do that restricting pvp shouldn't even be an issue because there won't be enough pvpers to cover all the spots (assuming groups of pve-ers can defend themselves.)
Alas, we are here. We have seen the steam reviews of "Loved haven... then I got PK'd." Just from that statement... you should be able to extract a lot of info and build a more complex game that allows players with some willpower and inventive ideas to progress. Not everyone is gonna stay in MO, it's obvious, but Haven is just another thing that vets can use to surpass nubs. It separates people from the real world and creates a 'gated' sort of growth. You don't want people to have stages of growth where they take big steps like that. You want them to grow slowly. Tindrem was supposed to be that, then it turned into the most ghetto place ever. lol. So yea... bad design.
Hit me up SV, I'll help you fix your game, and I'll do it pro bono.
