Hello. I literally just learned of this game this morning from a random ad. From what little research I've done, I'm definitely intrigued. I just need to know one thing:
Can I build a Shaman? If so, how? You convince me I can build a Shaman, and I'm sold.
A shaman you say? Such a subjective label. Let me humor you.
How about a dark Shaman? One who wears skin and bone that dangles from their thin frame? Shaking a spear, cursing people and communing with the dead? Perhaps with a shady creature as a familiar, or a trained pet? Come on in. Through a combination of magic schools, domination and light armor this would be easily possible.
An earthly shaman, versed well in Botany and nature? Surrounded by animals, wearing their fur, gathering flora to create potions and food, vials of poison and cures? Knowing magic to both harm and heal, perhaps even protect? Through taming, alchemy, and the magic schools this would be possible.
A spiritual shaman, who acts more of a priest or seer? Who communes with the unseen, travelling the narrow path between life and death, who deal in spirits, even create portals between the realms? That too is possible.
As are all of these versions of a shaman, together. Through careful management of your build, you could have the best of many worlds. You only must be careful of the corners you cut to get there. I can confidently say you could play many iterations of what one would call a shaman comfortably. If you are looking for more primal, elemental magic (that an Evoker might use) - a future magic school would be good for you. However, we will only have Ecumenical, Spiritism, and soon Necromancy for awhile. The two (soon three) schools that exist would be able to facilitate your needs. You would just be a master of none if you choose to share them.
I play similar styles happily and competently.
