Scribing was fun in MO1

Most people recoded a macro of it and then just played it to do the scribing flawlessly. If that's what you consider fun...
I mean to play devil's advocate you can literally macro every skill in this game
this can be easily solved by creating procedurally generated spell drawings making it impossible to have a pattern, than it would be very difficult to macro

It would defiantly add to the fun of what is a pricey skill to level..
If they could enforce banning on macro's being used that would help.
It does become one of the useless skills at 100 though when you have every spell. especially as mages are so nerfed and useless right now.
Maybe that will change in future

It was indeed a much better system in MO1, that actually had some substance and charm to it other than simply, boringly, holding a button.

To the complaint that it was macroed in MO1, who actually cares?

It doesn't have to be skill based, it just needs to be a more interesting, immersive, and fun little minigame that you get to play when adding a spell.

There are of course options as already mentioned to make it not macroable, but even if it is, the old system is still better than what we have now, and a downgrade ideally shouldn't happen in a sequel.

This complaint goes for many other professions as well, where the systems behind the professions are in depth and interesting, but the actual process for interacting with those systems is boring and only done through holding a single button.

That's really a topic for a new thread though.

Kinda feels lazy design overall, just a % chance to succeed based on the level. Similar to spell interruption chance, spell resist chance and weakspot chance. All those could be designed to be more interesting, skill-based and reliable.

Reminds me of learning spells from Harry Potter the Philosopher’s Stone. Almost the same but still very cool and much more creative/ interesting.
