will be in game in a week but am curious

i heard for crafting , 70 is the max for efficiency and the rest is more like cosmetic ;

but what about taming ??? extraction ? herding and the like ?

Taming and stuff are action skills, and you absolutely need 100 in them domestication skills to tame the bigest and baddest creatures and control them. Extraction I'm not sure about.

Only for the crafting skills like armor, weapons and bows. All other skills have to be maximized. Including the material lore which are required for crafting.

material lore are still secondary and not taken into the primary total right ?

The parent skills of the material lores are primary: Botany, Petrology, Animal Materials, Scales.
