I see your point but what you present here is a typical characteristic of a broken game economy, which basically sould be the foundation of any good MMORPG. If everyone will have infinite gold and mounts, it will basically mean the game became just a PvP arena and its concept is dead. That's why devs should look into this very seriously from the beginning. Also, I think that "taming" should be very limited and not everyone should be able to act as a tamer (like in UO, where tamers were super cool but they were also very limited in any other activities because of skill cap).

ye a gold sink was always missing in MO1 i feel. even the housing/keeps/upkeep sytems were not enough, as single players had ammassed enough wealth to build and maintain huge complexes.

TL;DR version of below is that I completely agree here ^

A big difference, and a positive in my view, is that there will only be one character slot in MO2,
there were those of us in MO that had our mains as dedicated tamers,
I didn't use any spare slots more than a few times over the years, it was an extremely enjoyable playstyle being a vagrant tamer in the Myrland of old plucking the best Jungle, Desert and Bull horses stealthily avoiding roamers, Risars and probably the most entertaining; DOOM, those guys were fun.

Once breeding came in to MO we were all pretty excited for a while, we thought there might be a benefit to being a 'master tamer' with beast mastery etc etc, but newp, there was no advantage to that in breeding whatsoever, so there soon became little point to being a dedicated tamer at that point, the advent of Molvas and Lykiators was fun but the price of mounts on the market was less than what donkeys used to sell for so it was no longer a way to survive and those with gold just pumped out the best stat mounts as needed.

I'm all for riders that aren't tamers being able to grab a donkey or basic rideable steppe horse to get around like it used to be but i'm really hoping the balance is struck right this time as there's a big potential to attract new players again in the non-pvp playstyles.
If there's ever breeding again, I really hope it gives a clear advantage to those with tamer/animal specialised characters.

In MO2 there's only one character slot, so if this works out and anyone needs some quality mounts down the track, you'll know where to find me ;)

I just hope, mounts will be "realistic". Like no unkillable flying dragon-horses which can run with a speed of light and carry a fully armoured knight with 300 kgs of extra stuff stored in some endless backpack.
I remember that in MO1, the same rules apply for both player characters and their mounts when it comes to weight. If you weighed the mount down sufficiently, its movement speed will be impeded and eventually not move at all.

You can test this by putting one full stack of razorback carcass into the mount's bag.

I agree but horses should be really expensive and easy to kill, otherwise everyone will be riding around the map and it will seriously affect game pace.
I'm new to the game but i disagree. Everybody should have acces to horses but they should make so that without certain skills its impossible to swing/cast/shoot while riding. I cant see reason why its bad if everyone can travel with horses. Riding to point a to b should be possible to everyone, maybe with certain riding skills you can ride faster or something.. Like I said I'm new but to me it sounds silly. ( I'm UO & all 4 df version player ).

that's pretty much how it worked in essence, everyone could just go tame a donkey or low level horse with very little taming skill and ride anywhere, certainly accessible and plentiful - it was decent, then tamers contributed to the economy ( and roaming pk fodder ) for access to the better mounts which those with greater creature control could ride as MAs etc.
if you wanted better mounts you would require a certain level of creature control
if you want mounted combat or mounted archery, those were skills to choose to use and improve,
if you wanted faster riding, you could choose that ( not that it worked )

Though it was all pretty messed up by the end and i assume it will require a *massive* amount of rework to be effective,
as much as i'd love it to be in asap, i'd love it to work even more.

'Under Development' is probably the best we'll get until they're confident it can be part of the roadmap.
