No Books in MO2?

I noticed the missing "books" to learn a skill on the current roadmap. And I don't remember a developer post about a complete change of the system. But I would like to change everything to learning by doing, and for some special skills, the player had to go to a NPC, the former librarian, to get the knowledge via dialog.

I did a quick discord search for books and skill books but there's been nothing mentioned about the system so far.

Aside from the rare high-end books that are currently on hidden vendors and usually exchanged for boss drops which I can understand, everything should be learn by doing.

That said it would be nice if those there more epic to obtain like necromancy, a journey. Hell, even if there were ways outside of books these skills could be learned like finding the information engraved on something inside a dungeon, forcing someone to have to fight their way there to learn it inside rather than someone else taking the risk and then throwing the book on the broker

I had an idea for books. I thought it was pretty smart.

Books instead of the way they work now, when you used them you'd be guided through a sort of 'curriculum' which pertained to the subject. It would LITERALLY TEACH YOU about things through reading, like books should!

But, here is the cool part; upon completion of reading the book you would be quizzed. This quiz would consist of X amount of questions, all multiple choice for simplicity sake, and these questions would be pulled from a pool of questions (As to avoid the same 10 questions and people cheesing the books). So lets say 10 questions pulled from a pool of a 100 questions related to the book material.

The higher you score, the faster the book reads + skill given flat upon quiz completion.

So a low score would indicate the book reading slower, with lower skill given (We could say a score of 1 out of 10 gives a flat 1 point in the skill, and 10 out of 10 gives a flat 10 skill in said skill. Can't be anything higher then that IMO otherwise the value of that skill goes down the quicker it is leveled.)

the Jungle. Meditating on things to come.
Books are just one of those things that is not sexy to talk about these days.

I would bet that they come in a very similar way as they were in MO1. Hopefully with a bit more diversity and less focus on Tindrem when it comes to location. With the new standing system and a one-character set-up that could create interesting smuggling gameplay.

If you think about it we don´t really have characters right now. They are more like skin with some skills going up. All the dynamics bits are missing. Which is fine for alpha, but some concrete information on what SV has been cooking up the past 10 years would be appreaciated.

I actually like the current extraction system that makes it so much easier to get your hands on it. Just put Granum in the crusher and autonatically learn all skills involved.

I would love to see books for rare stuff, but not for the basics.
As rare stuff I consider special armors and weapons, additional magic lores,...
Basically everything that wasn't buyable for normal money in MO1.

A padded room.
If they was not to have vendors selling books then I think it would be a cool idea if experienced players could somehow pass their knowledge to other players. Possibly by writing skill books themselves or teaching directly somehow.

interesting... perhaps remove npc books for the higher skills and have them instead require a 'discovery' to unlock. those who make the discovery could write books for others to unlock the skill, but those who simply learned it but did not make the discovery would not be able to write books

i guess then the question is how would discoveries happen.... a low percent chance when doing a related action perhaps, tho that seems rather uninspired. a questline from an npc master? perhaps for some skills but not for something players would write the book for. not sure how to properly gate something like this
