Murderers and Mass Murderers

This suggestion is to strike a better balance in how the murderer system works, instead of the current 5 murdercounts before becoming a fully-fledged murderer.

a) Killing an innocent blue player or their pet turns the pker global criminal for 30 minutes. This applies specifically to murders only, not other petty crimes like hitting a blue or pushing a player too many times.

b) If the victim reports the murder, the pker will be flagged as a murderer during the 30 minute countdown.

c) If the pker commits another murder during the countdown, the criminal timer resets however the current murderer flag remains as a separate timer until the previous criminal timer runs out. This does not remove the mc, however. See e).

d) If the pker receives another mc before the previous murderer flag expires, the murderer flag countdown is reset to the current criminal timer as in b). The pker cannot return to blue until both the criminal timer and murderer flag expires.

e) Once the pker accumulate 5 or more mc, they become a mass murderer (global grey with mass murderer symbol) until all their mc are burned. All mc received are to be burned as they do currently.

The 30 minute timer per murder is to produce three outcomes:

1. To allow the victim, especially the newer players who are still learning, to rest in the knowledge that once the pker is dealt with on the first instance, they do not reappear 2 minutes later as if nothing had happened.

2. To give bounty hunters more options in bounty targets. To take contracts on murderers more readily than having to wait for them to accumulate 5 mc.

3. The player who commits multiple murders should not be called a murderer, but a mass murderer. The old UO definition of a murderer may have meant something at one time back in the day, but it no longer makes much sense today.

Of course, in a game as complex as MO2 any suggestion needs to be robust and able to work in synergy with different systems and situations. So, I'm open to input (constructive ones, please) on this suggestion.

Whatever the solution will be, the game really needs to make being a murdered a significant choice, not just something almost everyone does because it's the way to play the game and it doesn't really have any consequences.

I agree and I think this idea is reasonable. Murderers shouldn’t rage quit after they had their fun. They should go populate GK and Kranesh as intended. Instead they get to murder new players freely near lawful towns and loot their victims stuff in that town 2 minutes later. It shouldn’t be the norm. To play as a murderer should be a skill and for skilled players who can live in GK or Kran without fear, they should band together and populate those dead towns. This is how Ultima Online, SWG, MO1 and ArcheAge was.

the old uo style of murder system was the best and easiest option. HOWEVER you hafto have a red name plate as a red player its the only thing that keeps cowards in check. if a player theoreticaly has one account and they wanto go ganking noobs and others all over the map then the biggest deturrent to stop "gankers" who would not fight alone is the red name plate. because as soon as they are not in a group they will hafto fear for their lives everywhere they go.

Currently allowing a player that has 50 mcs be blue is bad because they dont hafto fear for their lives , they can camoflauge into the crowd in town. if their name is RED and they have good standing then absolutely allow them to go into town. Yes the guards wont attack you because your nefarious but have good standing within the town but it should not stop other righteous individuals from ridding them from the streets. Reds should however be able to defend themselves in town against a players who have attacked them in mortal combat. .

Unlawful cities like kranesh should have NPC guards too but not blue ones they should be red and attack people with blue names that way if a large group of red players wants to take over kranesh they have some protection too. IF a blue player has good standing with the town of kranesh then as soon as they enter town they should go red , after leaving kranseh the player will remain red for two/five minutes. If a RED kills a RED in the area of an outlaw city they should lose reputation in the city and once they become negative to the outlawy city the guards will no longer allow you their either. they would hafto collect boss heads to gain reputation by handing them in. Including the heads of bounty hunters. (bounty hunter heads would need a cool down on drop so if a bounty hunter dies he can only drop one head every 24 hours and lose bounty rep.(preventing players from exploiting the system)

IMO the only draw back for players to have a red name is that they cant hide , i would say thats alright imo HOWEVER red named players should still recieve achievements for there dasterdly ways and gain titles and have their own reputation system similair to the prestige system henrik is talking about. I dont think punishing reds too harshly is good for the game and i would encourage anyone with the balls to become red do it. This prestiege system that henrik wants to make would also fall under the same category as the Order vs Chaos wars blue can prestige into order and reds and blue's can both become chaos.

Players using the bounty/murder system for pvp should have incentives such as titles and layered cloth armor's and specific red/black/grey coloured dyes you can only get this way. similair to bounty hunters getting the same things in different variations like blue/white/and gold..

Titles should follow somthing simalair to that of uo's karma title system with a spectrum of titles From Glorious Lord to Dread Lord.

Chaos: Grey would be for those in a low rank , Red would be for those with a normal amount of murders and good standing , Black would be for those who are truly the most evil with the dread lord title. Titles should follow suit.

Order: Blue for normies / pure white for normal amount of bounty and standing / Gold for the most Brave of order.




this system alone is good incentive for both innocents and crimnals to participate in playing the game.


i was fucked up when i wrote this hope you can read it just some brain storming. i want the pvp to be somewhat more balanced when henrik launches on epic. Allowing cowards to stay blue and kill noobs is part of the reason most full loot hardcore games fail. i want this one to succeed its the closest thing to uo out and i really have hopium for it.
