Make empty Houses in Town Leasable

Good morning,

This is the most pipe-dreamy suggestion I've made so far, but there are a ton of empty houses and buildings in most NPC cities. Unless you have big plans for these empty structures, make them leasable! Put a placard by the front door so that players can walk up and enter a bid on the house. Open bid format with a minimum Gold price to purchase the lease. The lease then requires upkeep like anything else based on it's size and quality. Once every 30 days, the lease goes up for bidding again.

These would make great guild halls for smaller guilds that cannot yet hold land of their own, personal status symbols safe from the ravages of war, etc. And a massive gold sink.

I think that is a great way to make what is currently a lot of empty shells serve a purpose. You could display trophies etc or host your own shop and as you say… gold sink

No. This would allow people to have additional bank space that no one can siege. It would give guilds and un-siegeble guildstone shelter. It would encourage even more people to be in cities, making them even more crowded and laggy.

it sounds good in theory but rhe reality is that guilds would monopolize them pretty quick as untouchable bases for their members.

player building and structures should always be siege-able.

So, if there can be no guild-stone in a leased house, and no extra storage (just trophies), you've nothing against it?

I don't follow these points. You already have unsiegeable bank space in cities, and an unsiegeable / guarded guild stone.

It's not the same as putting an unsiegeable bank in the middle of a strategic area, because in cities it's already there. Besides, I didn't say they should have guild stones, either way it shouldn't matter because the city already does.

It does nothing that you couldn't do with some gold (Grand Bags) or an alt (bank toon.)

So basically the worst thing you'd have to deal with is staring at ABC guild house and being able to do nothing.. except wait!! You could bid against them for the lease and either take the building away from them or cause them to hemorrhage cash.

Who said real estate isn't PvP?
