Mages should drop their spellbook (1 gold coin value) on death. Kinda silly that they can fight forever so long as they have reagents.

NO. Their spells are actually memorized, with the spellbook just a representation of the acquired knowledge.

Yeah I remember that there was some talking about risk/reward for mages and was very surprised that the spellbook doesn't drop. It's still much lower value than a proper set of gear.

Yes, you can buy the Ecumenical Book from the Vendor for 1g. For all the rest of mage schools there is an arduous path of farming or investing hundreds/thousands of gold coin (per spell) to acquire. So no, its not like going back to the Magic Vendor with 1g and getting everything back.

Spellbooks are not equivalent to weapons. Reagents are weapon equivalents, and are required so mages can’t just ether walk anywhere and start casting. Spellbooks are closer to skills. Many spells will need to be found in the world and added to the book. Losing a spell that took a huge amount of effort to get, to a single death, is not viable. Just like taking skills away from fighters on death would not be viable.

Do understand how acquiring spells in this game is going to be? Are you just trolling or extremely ignorant?
What are you talking about? All ecumenical spells are in the book.

this is not exactly about 1g but about later value. also it is not liek you can keep fighting after dying cuz the spellbook you still need reagents

You have to add all the spells for the other schools into the book. Some of them cost thousands of gold.
We don't know if it's going to be like that in MO2. Thread is dead. Henrik said no, so no it is.
