I recently spoke with Seb and heard him speak with others about how SV in fact does listen and is always discussing what they listened to. In some ways, I do not agree with that. However, I am sure that was only the way it used to be. NOW, I am sure they are going to listen! So, I am going to post some of my PoVs AGAIN.
The game needs to be less grindy! I was reading someone speak about the high-skill / high investment combat and how nobody is really interested in that, and I agree, but the thing is... if you layer high skill combat + gear + potions + magic + trinkets + mastery, it's like... what the fuck are we even doing? If you want to keep wild high skill combat, do it, but make it so people putting in the world can be competitive without grinding their ass off. There is a reason some of us wonder if SV is secretly supporting RMT because a lot of the grind seems unfathomable without purchasing items / paying to be boosted.
This is not the kind of game you want people to look at the path they have to take to be competitive and quit. Like, I am not good at melee. I never learned it, and I don't want to, but I can still play MO because there is more to the game than that. Learning the other parts of the game should also not require excessive grind.
Don't overlook aesthetics / personality. The game doesn't look too bad, imo. If you look at it very cynically, it does look like UE slop, but it works when you are immersed. It is a joke that MO still has alpha hairstyles probably from MO1. Joke level trash character creator. No ability to personalize your character besides like a tabard or some shit. Having player profiles that had some info + some text written by the player would add SO MUCH to the game. Then just make it so you can make characters that aren't all different colored clones.
There is a lot to do in regards to combat and TC, but there are some simple things that need to happen.
There needs to be some incentive to transport materials from town to town. All you get right now for going between towns is 30 clade. You should get like 500-2000 depending on where you are going. That alone would encourage people to run parcels and maybe take shit with them. Certain towns NEED certain things, there could be set 'quests' like town buy orders to get filled on a cool down that gave clade rewards, too.
There needs to be a way for people to fight each other outside of "rpk." OK RPK is bad, if you follow that logic, there still needs to be a way to fight your enemies and contest areas. You should be able to soft dec people. Even if it is only a dec in a certain region vs certain people, or dec all people in a certain region. All of the framework is there for this shit, why isn't it being used? These are some of the steps SV isn't taking that would make the game more dynamic!
The last one is something I have struggled to explain to people, but try to follow this. There should be society of sorts. There should be social roles. They can have minor perks or no perks, but just the titles alone would change the game. Knights of... bandits, merchants, smiths... barons, guardians, kings, princes, merceneries. Why not allow people to progress on that level? I know from selling Sophistication food in MO1 that people care about that shit. It would generate content. The idea is to make people interact with each other.
To take this to the next, next level imagine this... someone is the king / emporer and once a month they have an event where said person has to attend (schedule like a siege window
) and they bring all their bros and everyone else comes. And you can role play the event or not, but for x amount of time if the dude gets killed, he isn't the king anymore, and they have to select a new king. Again, would immensely add to the game and there are mechanics to make it happen.
Take chances, make the game fun, make the game make memories. <3
