The max. size of forum signature images is 500px wide by 200px high (same as usual), but even those signatures which have an image a little smaller than that seem to show only part of it-- estimating it at about 100 pixels in height that shows. The bottom (rest of the sig) is hidden by 'expand this signature'.

This is small 'quality of life' issue for forum users, but possibly as easy to fix as it is small.

It should be changed so that the hiding of "lines" (the image counts as one out of a limit of six) in a signature kicks in after 200px in height? This would avoid cutting off the visual of someone who uses the regulation height image alone or as their top line.

(Example: Look at poor https://www.mortalonline2.com/forums/threads/words-go-here.115/post-1418 Mingxia's signature. It's a few pixels shy of the maximum size and it's half-covered.)

Mine fits perfectly across the bottom bar and doesn't take up a bunch of space or require expansion, and looks smaller than ThaBadMan's signature for example despite being significantly larger. I ripped off the ratio from the ES signatures.

When you click the link in @Najwalaylah 's post, you go to a page that you are not logged in on. That is why no signatures. I don't know why.

I agree with the suggestion.
When that happens, usually the www has been left out of the URL; let me check...
WEIRD! The URL is fully formed
but I'm not logged on the page I reach when I click it, either -- even though I'm still logged in on this page as I write.
Not being logged in does in fact hide signatures-- and that's kind of pointless, so add that to the list of quirks this forum has.

So I'll try it without the post indicator (#post-1418) ... same result.

Had to log in on that page-- all pages involved show the same 'this page is secure' lock icon, for what that's worth.

But once you're logged in and looking at that sig (for example), this is what you see if you're me:

QDDcUsY.jpg

and this is not the look anyone really wants for their sig.

Yeah; I'm seeing what Kavu is seeing, @Rhias. Same thing for @ThaBadMan 's signature.

I had signatures off for a long time in the other forum, but I don't remember anything there like this.

Unless & until this is fixed, I suppose any image signature can only be something much less than 200px high if you want lazy folks to see the whole thing.

I already got railed for my signature but a certain GM was very understanding and let me have it back. i think that 500x200 px is just an archaic "suggestion" rather than a rule from the ye olde forums. Kinda like how you're not support to tie your elephant to the street lamps in texas or some shit. I think it's perfectly fine to mess around with signature sizes until it doesn't look horrible but it would be great if the rules were rewritten to specifically allow such

You are living in the past.

This is a clear and present set of rules -- which, if they don't apply, should be edited, which is on-topic for this feedback:

Signatures & Avatars
All signatures and avatars must follow general forum rules and Mortal Online 2 Terms of Service, and must be of reasonably good taste.
In order to keep the focus on the content of the forums rather than our individual signatures, we a have a few simple rules to follow and the forum is configured to help you with the signature rules:
You may use an image for your forum signature that is no greater than 500 px wide and 200 px high.
You may have up to six lines of text and a 500x200 image will count as one line.
You may only use one set of QUOTE tags.
You may not use animated signatures or avatars.

Another point: My sig here is now the numbers 9999, because... if I put in a single six-letter word, the forum informs me that I'm two characters over the limit. Something's either set very low, or wrong somewhere-- probably the latter-- oddly, because you'd think that low-bandwidth text signatures would be encouraged.

The results of my latest signature experiment can be seen at the end of this post-- at the time of posting.

Linking an image by URL gives me the message that my signature is three characters too long. How gently amusing.

Embedding it as media results in a kind of weird, ambient state, where it shows up but inside the typical Imgur embed frame. That's not a good look for what is otherwise one of my favourite sigs (the one Rathius made for me).

Laylah, Herald of Aegis Imperium_sig_wide.JPG

Funny to me that it's easier to attach it to a post than put it into a signature.

Trying to make new signatures right now is bugged. Dont remove your current ones or you will be stuck without one until they fix it
