Well if someone is chasing a guy who doesnt have much but a glider and some light gear. Then I personally dont see the problem. It's not like you can wear full armor or carry even a stack of anything. Your weight would make you fall anyways. I'm sure you would see lots of people trying to glide with armor...

My issue does not have anything to do with being chased or fleeing though. It is more about there being limited access to areas by design and players having to learn how to go about getting in and out of places. Having a glider would allow players to buy pass much of this.

Just look at MK for example. There are only a handful of ways in and out of the city by design. Put gliders in the game and that would completely change that aspect of the game.

Exactly, trivializes the explorers' experience. Didn't you do like, a peaceful explorer player series at some point?

The thing is, you would have to climb over the mountains in order to glide to MK, at which point, you could've just traversed down the mountain anyways. Gliders aren't planes, they can't just magically start at ground level and hippity hoppity over a few mountains into some limited access areas.

Also the jungle would be borderline near impossible to fly in.

Wouldnt it increase the amount of areas to get in and out of?

I havent played alpha, but the trees look thick and you really cant see through them. If anything was ment to be hard to find or harder to get into, will be, just because of the depth of detail this time. It's not like a huge hole in the desert. So I dont see it changing that too much, it's not like someone is going to climb a hill next to a Empire or town and use the glider to get over... well maybe they would.., if so, they could call it a crime for entering the area unlawfully. All players must go through a public area to enter empires, ect? Like gates, swers, tunnels, if not they can be reported by someone, like how a thief may become reportable just because you saw them steal or snoop in pockets.

I'm just trying to think in terms of what Henrik was talking about when it comes to the new flagging system.

I just dont like the idea of taming a dragon on the ground while it sleeps... just sounds like any old NPC taming. If it's a true boss creature, I would like it if a player was able to tame it while it roams around. If you wanna dominate a dragon while its sleeping that makes some sense. It's a demanding way to own a pet. While taming is gental, I see a tamer landing on a dragon trying to tame it before it buck them off.

Lots and lots of dieing would happen to even get the chance for a dragon.

I guess my point is, the dragon possibly being rideable makes me just wonder how far will SV go. Gliding seems reasonable if dragons are rideable. At least in my opinion. I do also see what everyone else is saying though. Just....rideable dragons.....

Btw I love traveling. I remember spending nearly a week getting so lost and learning the map in great detail. If this map is 6x bigger... fkn A. That's like a month of wondering and you wouldn't really know anything but where not to wonder to.

No, but its the difference between having to traverse the mountain range and having to traverse 1 mountain, depending on how the mountains are set up. Plus, you absolutely skip the valley. I'm all for making foot travel less of a chore, but...do it with more streamlined shortcuts that can be exploited by people setting up ambushes. We want people to be driven into each other, not finding ways to skip past one another.

Although your argument is correct, it hurts my narrative and therefore I say to you, you are a bigot, a nazi and a white supremacist. Good day to you sir.

Idk what game you think MO is, but I've never seen mountain ranges soo close that a glider would pass over the tops of then.

From what your saying it's just like scaling the side of a mountain on an invisible staircase... I'm sorry I don't see how that diagram shows anything but a mountain range that has no real valley in it. Plus you forgot that you have to fall to gain the g forces to even glide. So wheres the dip off the first mountain?

Mehhh, I dont recall any mountains near close enough to do as your saying. Even MO1 had vast distances between most mountains or the terrain levels where so wavey you wouldnt fall much more then a few feet. Unless you jump off a cliff most of the areas couldnt even be used for gliding.

I'm not calculating your wind speed velocity and displaying it in an MSPaint paste, but yeah it DOES really depend on how high certain mountains end up being, and how densely packed they are in certain areas, again though, skipping over valleys would 100% happen.

You could absolutely fly clean over Bakti, and I wanna say you could zip over MK, ... also probably get pretty close to Churchwatch/Whore'sHouse if you jump off a mountain in Mohki, but it's been awhile since I've played, and the world isn't 1 to 1 from the old game, so we'll have to see.

I wonder how far you could get from that cliff overlooking Meduli. I will admit there were times I wish I had a hang glider at the top of that thing, but the point of the cliff is that I didn't have an easy way down. My ass had to struggle down. It's not meant to be a pleasant trip. That's what's at the core of this. It's not MEANT to be a playground, it's meant to be an oppressive horrible landmark that causes you to rethink your travel strategy. I wouldn't mind a secret path down that makes you walk along some god forsaken narrow ledge though. You know, those ledges where you're terrified of accidentally double tapping D or A and going for a long plunge down.

We currently only have a very small map in MO2 but already we have the Fabernum backdrop as an example.

People playing in the alpha will most likely have had to put a little time into gaining knowledge on how to safely get down from this backdrop.

Having gliders would negate the need for this knowledge since players would be able to jump from almost anywhere and glide safely down.

Sure in this situation you could most likely get down with out dying easily enough.

But it still demonstrates the basic issue I have with gliders.

Not to be rude in anyway... Isnt a Sandbox a Playground Equippment?

Your making it seem like you can float cross the world as if you can in real life. If you've ever used a glider, you dont glide for hours or even 20 mins most of the time. I'm sorry you disagree with the idea. Although how your talking about it is as if we have engines running the gliders. Think of it as a parachute that help you get down from places.

Also according to lore, theres a HUGE water fall in the world. I could easily see gliders used from the top to get down. A boat wouldnt make it. Not to mention, you have to climb up before you can go down. It would be a hassle to even use the damn glider.

Plus a spiritist just wonders dead anyways.... so that fall damage you all are talking about doesnt happen to all players. Some are smart and die before dieing ;D

Spiritist walk dead everywhere.... I dont see the agreement anymore. Lots of players wonder dead before learning where to go up or down. I see gliders being great, lots of people who attempt to use then and many other would shoot those players down with spells and arrows.

I feel like no one is thinking past the fall damage.. what are you guys going to do about dragon riders?

Fall damage??? I feel that you are not getting what I am saying at all. But I am sure the devs will so I will just end that with what has already been said.

As for dragons. We have no idea if dragon riders are ever going to exist. Henrik just was talking off the top of his head about the possibility. Besides, dragons are going to be very rare legendary creatures. Such creatures in MO are few and far between and are gone when they are gone. There are not going to be flocks of dragons available to allow everyone to be freely flying around on them.

i dont need to think for 1minute that any form of gliding/"flying" has no place in MO. also for any game with flying u need to keep that feature in mind while u design the whole world.

so looking at dev time and game design there is simply no place to implement any sort of gliding/flying IMO.

I recall killing the Thorax... Isnt Thorax a Legendary Creature?

I see what your saying. But I'm not sure how a new player will have diving skills to even use the glider. Also to the extent that someone would have to still make it for them. So far they got a lot of work to even obtain a glider none the less learn to use it.

I feel most people will try the glider with no skills, armor equipped, and weighted down... they will be knowledgeable on dieing from use of glider. Lots of lost gear from dummies trying something they cant do.

This would take a lot to use a glider and its goal is for players who perfer traveling and enjoying the mapping (all the beautiful views!). As I stated before. 6x bigger, its gunna be months before anyone really knows the map. Plus if a small village was the only place to get the crafting plans and gliding skill. Then it would be fairly rare to see them anyways, similar to draco armor. It would be a rare thing to see.

Mhmm... I think you missd the possible dragon riders... Also the item can be edited separately to be implemented. Doesnt have to be a foundation thing.

The fight between a dragon rider and players on the ground just seems alittle uneven, a glider could even out the fight. It's not like lots of people would even us a glider or get the chance to have the dragon. But if there will be dragon rides why not add gliders to even the battle grounds?

No I think a fight with a dragon on land would be balanced. You could even implement some kind of... shout magic that can tether the dragon back to land.

Oh wait... if dragons were added into MO then iT wOuLd Be JuSt LiKe SkYrIm
