After playing with my brother a bit more today, we were wondering if this kind of stuff is going to be functional in the game after release. (We thought it would open a nearby door, probably some boss inside)

One can hope that they do have a plan for things like that. I mean they put it there. If they didn't plan for it to do anything its just going to build up the animosity that similar stuff did in MO1.

MO1 ends with the haven island running into myrland flipping it all upside down. Because myrland is clearly floating(if you go deep and far out enough the land is actually floating and not connected to anything).

Clever, inventive, and there is water under there, but you wouldn't know a canon if I used it to blow down your mizzenmast.
here at the start of the video, we also discovered that lever and wondered why it is there, I guess it will get some usage later.

If you pull it, releases the server hamsters from their cage.
This pic of an alcove in the 'Rich District' of Old Tindrem, overlooking the harbour, clearly shows the Server Monkeys in their chains. When was the upgrade to Hamsters?
That might be the lever which extends the bridge across Tekton's Fault to Sarducaa— which would explain why it's disabled.

The server monkeys are the ones making sure the hamsters are fed and pressing the restart button when it blinks red(for a banana paste treat of course).
They also sometimes do the patching of the servers by using diskettes and inserting them into one server after the other(for beforementioned treat of course).
Big upgrade from the old monkey eat monkey punch card system they had in mo1.

I still think that sebastian is coding in henriks basement and while doing that he is on a bike that produces electricity to run the server. xD
I believe its more like those tread plates (goobleboxes) in rick and morty.
