That's not a good sign.
The game already feels very grindy and tame compared to MO1, adding a map indicator just adds to that.
It now genuinely makes me think the game is headed in a very different direction than what I thought way back in alpha and even up until recently before the whole caravan campsite thing they added to dungeon entrances.
If what you say turns out to be true, that more people will vote for it than not, then a part of me feels like we old MO1 vets are being slowly but surely pushed away in favour of the newer crowd who have a vastly different concept of what MO2 should be, one patch at a time.
I agree. Just calling it. I feel sad about other stuff, but this isn't as bad as some of the stuff they already added.
I'd enjoy seeing different game play styles. Like MMO / Sandbox haha.
Sandbox would have all of the old stuff, and MMO would have the new stuff they added for new players. They maybe you could switch. The idea would be that a player can, say, make great gains doing daily tasks, but as a sandbox player, you couldn't do daily tasks, but your overall gains would be boosted enough that you would get it back if you played.
I dunno what the map trade off would be, though. I would even take a color difference that showed people were in "MMO" mode. I am aiming with arrow tip still; I would enjoy like a 2% damage bonus. haha. Stuff like that, dunno. I think there has to be a middle ground, but you have to give people a chance to make it up thru vet knowledge. I def don't think the game should be only vets and that it should be as hard as it was for us as nubs, but it should not be so easy for semi-vets. Or for nubs to become vets.
