The Return Of Red Names Confirmed

New world cost 200M dollars to make and they sold 20 million copies of the game, a good chunk of which were deluxe editions. Even when calculating tax, ongoing development and server maintenance they are a minimum in the 500+ million profit. I don't know what world you live in where you can...

The Return Of Red Names Confirmed

Neither MO2 or New World have failed. They have failed in the eyes of the hardcore vet community, one, no offense, so small they are economically irrelevant.

The Return Of Red Names Confirmed

It’s not the Karen’s directly that are causing these games to struggle, it’s that for every hardcore PvP vet and fan you have, there are 100,000 Karen’s that are also whales, ready to drop thousands of dollars on cosmetics and extra energy to win the game by buying their way through it. I...

Pets are ruining small scale PVP

Im sure that is true, at least so far back as I can remember but the advice is none the less the same. If there is a weakness or unbalance in the game your choices are complain about and be victim to it, or abuse if for your own gains. Wolf or sheep? Those as always are your two options.

Pets are ruining small scale PVP

In my experience complaining about balance issues does not get devs to respond, abusing and exploiting them mercilessly usually resolves the issue in short order. Aka, if it’s OP, start doing it.

The Return Of Red Names Confirmed

I have thought about this a great deal and find myself split between the wanted freedom of a game in which players do whatever they want, creating a dynamic content for each other for better or worse and the clear need to create an environment safe enough for new players so that they stay long...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

Like I said, if they can make a good, fair thievery mechanic without exploits I’m game, but in nearly 40 years of mmos no one ever has come even close. If all we can get is a broken one, I hope they are wise enough to skip it. MO1 thievery was dog shit!

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

That is a gross misreading of how the overwhelming majority saw thievery in MO1. It was a despised mechanic, hated above all others. I played a lot of MO1 and the constant, non-stop complaining about it was a pandemic and 99% of it came from new players as these were the only targets of the...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

I think there is a middle ground for MO2 and from the many hours of podcasting Henrik has done, I think he has a good understanding and strong vision of what he wants to achieve, but I think he is still quite a ways off from achieving it. There are still many elements of the games core design...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

Your probably You are probably right, but I think the jist of it was so many elements in MO1 didn’t work as design intended. Thievery for example had a number of exploits including things like being able to steal from player banks under certain circumstances, login or log off delay stealing...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

I agree(ed) with that part, as I would imagine many returning MO players would agree, but thievery was definitely not on the majority of peoples lists that made it so. Thievery was almost unanimously despised, it was, by a large margin, THE most complained about mechanic in MO1. It’s exclusion...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

Not that I disagree with you in terms of MO being a one of a kind, niche but far more interesting game then the countless out there who’s names I can’t remember. I like Henrik, Starvault and there collective vision and I agree with Henrik on most things. But MO can’t just be an unrealized...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

Each mechanic like thievery, is going to need to fit into the PvP rules architecture which is still very much in the early design stage. If they make it so you can ID and kill thieves, all we are going to have is naked thieves everywhere. I don’t think this game can take anymore immersion...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

I wouldn’t call it exciting, it’s a purely one directional mechanic, meaning the thief has nothing to loose and little to gain, at least as it was in MO1. Never bothered me, just never really understood the attraction given it was difficult to level up and the end game was earning about as much...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

I wouldn’t hold my breath for thieving, it was a nuisance in MO1 and for the half a dozen naked thieves that existed on the server there was a decade of complaining about it. It probably cost them a couple million dollars in Revenue in lost customers with its existence. A game is dead when the...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

Just for the record as a follow up, I know I sound negative and it may even seem like I’m dumping on the game, but I do share the hope that in the end, MO2 ends up being a good and successful game. It’s just very clear to me at this point it’s not on the right track, and with only a minor...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

That would be relevant if the games early and mid games had some semblance of order but MO2 right now is a series of incomplete, half baked or untested mechanics. Creating an end game utility when the game doesn’t have any fully functioning or even remotely balanced system is a bit like...

Will Mortal Online 2 Survive The Next 2 Years

Let’s be real here. TC is pretty irrelevant, it’s end game content for such a minority they may as well not exist. MMOS live and die on the participation of pve, casual and light PvP players. The elite vets that Henrik hopes will carry this game are more a hindrance to the game then...

MO I Player Considering MO II: Questions

Dude, I don’t think you understand how expensive it is to run and develop an mmo, especially in Sweden. If this game had 100k subscribers, it would still be bleeding money. 20k is not even close to enough to turn MO2 profitable. Starvault has 19 full time employees, they need to be earning 2...

MO I Player Considering MO II: Questions

Fully agree. MO2 is a charity, it will be around so long as Starvault is willing to keep the servers running at a loss of revenue. It’s a loosing enterprise with its current rule set as has been the case of every “hardcore PvP” game. There is no market for such a game. Never has been...
