Probably you shouldn't do it mid fight but it works fine when kiting.

In MO1 you were able to pick up spirit boxes that someone dropped due to death in normal world, am I wrong? Does the same thing work in MO2?

You just pointed out another issue. You can't see to which "community"/faction a certain player belongs to. If you kill some Meduli Citizen he can ghost over to Vadda and let you loose Khurite Standing, just for the sake of fucking you over, without even being part of the Khurite community.
