Where is it?

I admit I am entitled to feel that SV owes me an explanation, but even tho I have left for extended periods, I was always down for the cause. It took me a second to even hear about MO2, but when I did, I came back and checked it out. I watched them drop the ball at regular launch. Dutifully, I came back AGAIN for the NA server. Plenty of other people did as well.

It is true the game is always going to be wonky in some ways. It is true the game is terribly imbalanced if you know what matters and what doesn't. But the truth is what everyone has been saying for about ten years. They never took that next step.

I feel like everyone wants the same thing, but not everyone knows what that would entail in regards to game design. The game just has to be deeper. You can add mobs, combat skills, mounts, spells... but it's just tools within the shallow game world.

There are no empires. There are no important people. As far as I know, nobody has done anything that people will talk about and remember fondly. It's all just different levels of the same thing. It's a waste. And unfort, until they address this, the game will always be trash. It will always mislead people into believing they are right on the cusp of being good, but, really, they need to put time into developing deep, interconnected game play loops and let the content form organically due to that.

They added in Trinkets and Mastery / Tasks for game play loops, but now, the game is about farming haha. It goes to show how much such changes can influence the playerbase.

SV, I urge you to consider making your game good. I urge you to release a plan and let the community review it. A lot of us have given you money, a lot of money tbh, and in some ways, I don't think you appreciate it or know what it means. Not everyone is paying to play your awesome gam because NO OTHER GAM IS LIKE THIS, some of us are investing in what we believe could be. To hold that over our head, assuming you understand that, and take our money, is wack as fuck.

You cannot say that things are working or even trending in the right direction, because we have seen the SV way fail time and time again. This is a fail to end all fails tho. Sard launch, 2 months, 2 servers... 500 people. It's the same 500 people, too, haha cuz it doesn't graph up or down.

So, as I have said before: EMAIL ME when you have that plan. Otherwise ??

I regret to inform you, good sir, but SV owes none of us an explanation or anything else, other than providing a game (that they own) entirely at their discretion.

We are like guests at SV's house, paying for a privilege that we agreed on their terms. That's it, nothing more, nothing less.

Source: https://www.mortalonline2.com/terms-of-service/
This.
And for all we know the "imbalance" and "wonkyness" may actually just be exactly how Henrik likes it. What we call unfair or OP could very well be how he wants it to be. Its entirely his world and his rules. We are just paying guests.

I mean if they truly owed me something, I would pursue it legally.

But do they owe it to us to keep the servers up? Do they owe it to us to protect our info? Do they owe it to us to keep the game play free of hackers / cheaters? Not really, but there is an implicit understanding.

There is also an understanding that they should be providing somewhat of a good game. That is how they sell long term subs.

Even the biggest companies try to pretend like they care about their customers nowadays. That SV doesn't is a bit crazy, and yea, in the most cynical view, you guys are right. However, we are seeing how that end goes.

I will wait for THE PLAN to be released.

In life, you rarely get what you want, even if you pay for it. I was once at a 5-star hotel and ordered a $300 "catalog girl" to my room. She looked incredible in the photos—like an actress... But then, when she arrived at my suite... well... let's just say... I won't say any more.
That’s been my relationship with MO1 and MO2. The only difference is, there’s no luxury suite.
MO2—as I always say (sadly)—died a long time ago (years ago), and nothing they do will change that. I know it, Henrik knows it, Starvault knows it, and everyone who’s been here for over 10 years knows it. The way they’ve strayed from what the game was supposed to be is so grotesque and terrible that it’s depressing just to think about it. I was a devoted defender and lover of MO. I gave 13–15 years of my life to this community, like so many others (I know people who were in the MO1 alpha, hahaha), but there simply comes a point where you have to give up. I mean, I was one of the first eight players in MO2; I used to spar with Henrik during the combat alpha and even roleplayed with the old veterans there—Khutara, Steiner, Bomex, etc. They’ve all left now. It’s all over.

That’s it. Sorry.

They could genuinely just nerf Alvarins MAs add antizerg and game will bump to 1500 over months and sit there with no further content because it will naturally be enjoyable.

I think you were right, but it was fun for a few weeks. Thanks for checking out my thread. It's sad how they sucked the life out of the game so that we can't have any more famous vets.

It’s all Henrik’s fault and his stupid ideas. I still remember him telling me on Discord how the massive map would be completely filled with 5,000 players playing at once... we all know how that turned out. The server can barely handle 800 players without lag. 900 on a good day. That’s it. Imagine being so incompetent that you make a map 20 times bigger than the original... FOR THE SAME NUMBER OF CONCURRENT PLAYERS WE HAD IN MO1. That literally sums up the development of MO2 in a single comment. It was delusional. And on top of that, they added the most pathetic, weak, slow, and useless pets imaginable to the world. In MO1, horses were fast, reliable, strong, and agile. They were good mounts. In MO2... well... I’d better not say anything else, hahaha.
I won't even talk about the horrible grind they’ve forced on players—tedious, unbearable, boring, and hostile to quality of life. And the sieges? My God, it’s the worst siege system in the history of video games; even the MO1 system was better, and that was already terrible.
As a veteran crafter, Henrik personally promised me a beautiful, user-friendly crafting system that would enrich the world and allow renowned crafters to create unique items... and what did he give us? A terrible copy-paste job of the MO1 crafting system. It wasn't entirely bad back in the day, but porting it over to MO2 was the most pathetic move I’ve ever seen. The only thing we got for weapon customization was those silly stones that let you add a few relief patterns. It’s so embarrassing. It was one disappointment after another for me. It’s cringeworthy. I was always a devoted defender of StarVault and Mortal, but there’s a limit to everything. I’m too old for all this. I simply gave up. Just like so many others. I can't believe that after this whole disaster, they had the audacity to release another continent... and to my surprise, it was... SARDUCA. Hahahaha. It's absurd.

SV took too long to implement what many people have been telling them for years, or worse, seemingly ignored them and did something else instead. I remember the unofficial poll I put out several years back asking the community how important thievery was to them, and something like 63% said very important.

To this day, thievery is nowhere in sight.

You’re addressing someone who actually knows the difference between mo1 and mo2 with first hand knowledge.

He is quite literally informed, and you are the opposite.

Most people have you on ignore in nave chat. There’s like 6 people who care about what you care about.

You wanna discuss fine but do it respectfully.

People who actually remember when mortal online was an actual sandbox don’t need to hear your brain dead nonsense. What the fuck would some mo2 zoomer have that’s of utility. Ok maybe you can improve the combat a bit in a game that’s already dogshit. Bravo. Were talking about the game, the combat still gonna be ass no matter what. It was dogshit when it was thursar online and mas sucked too. We don’t give a fuck chill in one of your other 30 threads.

MAs still suck regardless of what he says. Nerf gun arrow speeds. Ultra small arrow hit box. Mounts that require armor, but if you equip armor you get clowned on by a zero invement naked EQ mount. To top it all off they just nerfed weakspot from 70% to 50% because of stupid elves nuking players with daggers. Our 300 point investment (btw) to anyone who wears armor above 55 pierce resist was gutted because of cringe OP knife ears.

Completely irrelevant. Playing mo1 gives you no ground above me, unifmormed in general gaming sense. Even if you play something but arent observant you are unimformed.

Mo1 was always dead just like mo2,

You need balance to have a respectable game. period, and anyone who denies that is unifmormed and does not understand gaming ecosystems.
Dude literally said "nobody gives a damn about balance in gaming"

Do you wanna defend that point in the next argument, coz he obviously wont?

Yes or no?

If you mean the point about mo1 being always dead. It was a highly niche game, with poor quality of life, buggy mess etc. the underlying game and systems however were very fun and the false equivalency between player count and quality of game is made many times over the years. The most popular thing is not always quality in the same way that pop music isn’t the best music and McDonald’s isn’t the best food. In fact the pop per square inch of map has dipped below mo1s at times so the argument fails as mo2 may even be the worse game by that measure.

Basically pop=good game is a dishonest argument it’s a complex multivariate

If you’re asking me to defend the point that balance isn’t required. It clearly is and most of us would agree. It’s just simply an oversimplification in the wrong thread. This thread or at least his post is about the sandbox elements which are the cause of the spiritual death of mortal online. Face it, none of us truly knows what the effect on population will be when a specific intervention occurs.

To come in the thread and say yeah it’s just that the combat is shit because elves and mounted archers. It’s not, we know better because we lived it. This game is not very good as an mmorpg period, and never was. Now do you have a larger point on the combat, probably. Do I think the effect is anywhere near where you state and the game would just be bussin if they nerfed elves. I am almost positive you’re wrong about that and Mr ibarruri is right, it’s that the game has no identity, or meaningful content.

There is literally no one left whom you could call "everyone." No such thing exists in Myrland anymore. Everyone has abandoned the game. I find your naivety touching. But okay, okay—sure, it’s just like you say.

Listen, you seem like a decent guy. But the fact that you claim MO1 was always dead disqualifies you from having a valid opinion. That comment alone proves you are completely ignorant of this community's history—which began two decades before you even started playing—and renders you incapable of offering an informed opinion on the game's state. Okay, fine—let's assume that nonsense you're talking about is even remotely relevant to, say... 15 MO2 newbies. Do you really think the serious, deep-seated issues in this project's evolution have anything to do with that? The answer is NO.
Now, as someone who has been here far longer than you (decades), let me educate you on our history.
No, MO1 wasn't always dead. There was a time when it was teeming with life and players. There were aggressive guilds and epic wars; the whole place was alive. Despite the game's limitations, the economy was vibrant and wealthy, and every day presented a challenge for old-school merchants. Tens of thousands of gold coins changed hands daily, and hundreds of weapons (literally) were crafted and used. There were battles, skirmishes, sieges, and politics—everything felt alive. You know nothing about that because you didn't live through that era, but I did. The only thing even remotely similar—though still a far cry from it—was the MO2 launch, but to be frank, that was short-lived and a disaster. Furthermore, as someone who bridged the gap between both games, was present from day one of the MO2 combat alpha, and spoke with Henrik practically every week, I have a much deeper insight into this community and the problems that ruined this project—a project I enthusiastically supported for nearly two decades. And let me assure you... I’m not even the oldest hand here; I know people who were involved in the very early development of MO1. I’m not saying this to brag; I’m trying to educate you. I know you think you know the game, but you don't know a thing. You're just a kid complaining and spouting opinions about things you know absolutely nothing about. But fine, I'll grant you this: maybe you're right. If they make the change you're asking for... maybe we'll get 15 more players for... 3 weeks.
Feel better now? lol

Whenever you want to have a serious conversation about the reasons behind the total disaster that is Mortal Online, and want to learn more about our history, drop me a line—I'd be happy to educate you. And now, if you'll excuse me, I've got food cooking. Stay humble, my friend; you're just a guest in a world much older than you are. And please respect Teknique. He is a legend.
