Will there be something discouraging killing new players?

Just joined today and regardless of the answer to this question I will still play. But I would say most of the MMO community don't play hardcore games because issues like this. I don't think its fair for a brand spanking new player to join the world and instantly start to get camped unable for them to learn or play. Will there be any mechanics to at least get a feel for the game before getting thrown to the wolves. IE albion has their blue/yellow/red/black zones.

You'll spawn in NPC towns which will have NPC guards to protect you. Later, you can build your own base with similar minded people and hire NPC guards to protect your base from PvPers.

Something was mentioned it on the QnA ( I dont remember). Although I believe the new player "yellow name" worked decent to get a start. I see this becoming better for MO2 as every system has been reworked. Also they need to keep more players on the first impression. Doesnt mean the recipes or materials will change, just the way we go about things.

So I see new players getting the chance they need this time around. Shouldn't be such a slaughter house for new players.

Yes that's what I'm most worried about people that are totally brand new to action combat. Chasing off the casuals because they are as needed for a healthy community as the hardcore players.

There's going to be a whole continent where you can't get griefed right?

If by continent you mean island, and if can't get griefed you mean the worse people can do is steal your walker heads and trick you into going from yellow to blue then killing you, then yes, there is going to be a grief free continent.

In MO1 Haven you can change from newby/yellow state to normal state and then of cause a player could attack and kill you. There also have been some griefers in Haven on the graveyard, but then StarVault patched guards to the graveyard and the griefers disappeared.
