You may have noticed a lot of blue players keep whining and crying about red players not being punished enough. I am here to tell you, as a red player, they have a point in ONE specific area. However, they seem to have a complete lack of nuance when criticizing this area because they've only played on one side of the coin.

Red players are punished enough by the current systems.

Where the system fails is when red players group up, either with other reds or with blues.

A) The Bounty System feels like it was designed without awareness of how 99% of red players play.. In large groups.

B) No incentive to deal with criminal groups specifically.

So what happens? A group of incel reds repeatedly team up on solo blues thinking they're hilarious pranksters and trolls. This obviously annoys solo blues. They can't incentivize people to team up on the reds because there is nothing in it for a blue, who is already likely PVP averse due to being blue, to go out and PVP. Meanwhile, your solo blue potato pickers are seething with no solution to a group of forever ganking red incels. Now, i also find PVErs to be something of a cancer to games like this, where they will keep begging for safety. I'm here to tell you exactly how you fix this WITHOUT completely spoiling the other side of the coin.

You NEED a reason for blue players to group up and deal with groups of reds. Also, i'm not sure how you would implement this, but a reason to deter blues from helping reds should be implemented also. People mention having a red in your guild should turn the guild red; or maybe people in the guild lose rep for having a red.. Who knows. Either way, you need to either:

A) Disincentivize reds grouping up.

B) Give blues a reason to hunt groups of reds as a GROUP.

^THIS IS YOUR SOLUTION^

No red player would complain about being dealt with by other players. What bothers them are NPC guard zones or systems crowbarred in to make an already punishing system even more so. Reds will usually welcome PVP. Make blues give them PVP, and we're all happy. Blue solos don't have to worry about incel edgelords, and red players get PVP.

It is win win.

The crux of the problem seems to be that there is zero accountability for pking, and the only 'deterrence' is a slap on the wrist that can be earned back given enough time and effort.

I think what MO2 is missing is an EVE Online-style accountability system, where every player you kill leaves a receipt that cannot be wiped away with time or rep grinding.

What this does is that every player you kill now remembers your action against them, how much damage you did, what weapon you used, the date and time, and where.

The more people you gank, the more people will remember you, and over time this brings the victims together against a common enemy, and creates actual notoriety for the pker.

This is not the case right now in MO2, and it is one area that it loses to EVE Online's extensive tracking of every item, location, player (and action), and layers of detail on all of it.
