What would revitalize MO2? Just some thoughts...

Letting people win in a competetive setting is not a win win. its a mega failure. I would seriously take great offense if someone let me win.
Being comeptetive does not equal "a social dysfunction akin to sociopathy or psychopathy."
participation awards are for losers.
It's not a participation award. It's just being realistic. If you enjoy playing and you want to keep having people to play against then brutalising every newbie you see is going to make sure that you don't have anyone left to play against. Rats managed to work that out but you can't. If you feel the need to roflstomp every person who can't defend themselves from you then yeah, you're probably a bit of a psychopath.

I dont do that but like that it could happen to me at any time.
if the choice is to keep it the way it is and no one to play with or a safehaven for newbs then I choose no game.

Well, you've just proven my point: you don't do that. So you do follow the social rules. The problem is the people that don't will spoil it for you. I'm not talking about making anything a safe haven. It's okay to stomp on a newbie but if a player is purposely hunting that newbie to extinction then they are screwing it up for everyone.

No they make the game enjoyable.
Without them there is no content

You enjoy getting dominated time and again by the same player? Or are you being a little dishonest. Have you actually been in that situation where a player who you cannot beat camps you? Or have you yet to find a player that you can't beat?

How can a player camp me? at best he kills me once then I move on.
Who is being dishonest? I never said I like getting dominated or killed. I like the risk factor and having to be aware of my surrondings knowing anyone could be an enemy, if they get close out in the world they probably are.

It is absolutely possible and happens routinely that a bored guild of 10-20 people spread out on horseback on say all exit paths to morin khur across both servers and slaughter anyone that leaves for hours on end. How exactly do you move on?

At best you could ghost to another town where you have to start from scratch to avoid what is effectively a siege blocking you from playing the game in any capacity wothout repeatedly instantly dying. Maybe, if youre lucky and inventive you can find a way to drop down the cliffs and elave morin khur unnoticed and then swim out via the river but youre still not getting a horse out and will likely be unable to return agian without being killed even then.

I really dont care how much of a vet or hardcore player you say youa re, that shit aint fun and willa bsolutely make people quit the game. And there truly is very little you can do about it bar join some zerg guild and wait for a time where you have anywhere close to the same number of players online to coordinately try to push back with.

They need to remove the alt servers
You do know that Alts are populated mostly by newboes tired of being ganked on Main? Until they fix the rep system, allow for meaningful PvP while exploits of ganking are severely punished, and basically add a metric ton of content, alts are going newhere.

I mean right now the respawn of most pve mobs except dungeons is so slow that you basically couldn't do anything pve wise if we only had 1 server atm without them adjusting the spawns a lot or add more and bigger camps.

If they are tired of being ganked then maybe the game is not for them, for 1 server is the inevitable future of this game.
Right now having alts is causing damage to the economy and other damage that im not sure i can even explain on the forums but has been reported to Starvault many times.

I started playing at launch and did not play MO1. I kinda agree on Morin Khur the reason I'm not stationed there is the exits but that seems like a Morin Khur problem not a problem with pvp.
so far I have not encountered anything close to that scenario, Maybe because I am in Bakti.

Also that absolutely could be fun but maybe not if it's everyday which I have a hard time beliveing.

ganking are severely punished
only as long as crafters get random event that delete their progress. why punish people for playing the game?

Oh look another one.....

Another person who points to the Steam charts and starts saying the sky is falling. First, let me point out a cold hard fact, Mortal Online is not for everyone. A large number of "hype" players and streamers are going to jump on the new thing in hopes of finding something new or to leave a mark or to make a few dollars off of. Many of these people vanish after 30-60days, in most cases it is a solid average of 40-60% of the initial numbers drop off. This has been a fact since the early 2000s in MMOs. The launch numbers of World of Warcraft and retention numbers after 60 days were completely different, it didnt start growing till several months after its launch. Blizzard had massive server issues that plagued that game for nearly six months. Everquest, Asheron's Call, hell even Final Fantasy Online all had massive drops after the first 30-60 days. This was originally thought because that was the "free trial" period. But in fact it is all of the hype players and usually in that time frame something new has come out for them to gravitate towards. I personally call these "hype" players locusts, because they are nothing more than a plague on gaming.

LOL...Oh look another one...another person who post with emotions and ignores facts. ALL of the games you mentioned I was there for their launches and I playtested their games. MO2 bears NO resemblance to any of those games. People like you die in house fires because you refuse to admit the house is on fire.

Nah THE alt is a beautiful, less laggy world without stacks of TC. There is less resist, but if someone wanted to go on a gank spree, they could easily, cuz most of the players who defend from ganks are on main. Some people are wise to this. It ain't safe. lol. Alt feels more like beta even in terms of smoothness ( excepting the pop in.) Like I said, instead of SV trying to force everyone onto 1 server and making it lag more, they should really give some thought to make the alt a slightly differently world w/ a different bank. Could have no TC so that they don't have to double manage, make the rules a bit different, more free... more fun. Less of just GOLDFARM style and more of ACTION, and since you won't be able to move mats, people won't go there to cheese gains, but the fun of the game + action. THEN when they finally get a second continent and server, they can either put the bank to new continent or merge it and delete the alt - shrug - A lot of the BS (altho disappearing pets etc, having your armor disappear and your char forget all skills... seem to happen more on alt, imo) is more on main. Bugged out TC events, ugly TC structures, atrocious lag, sometimes queue.

1 world is a big selling point, but really just put up the alt as a kinda funhouse server for now, even advertise it as such, the people who wanna actually just play for fun and fight, etc, will be there for less laggy, less gimped gameplay (adjust rules!) I bet even some streamers would come for that. Maybe when SV sees that in motion, they will be able to realize how important that is to the game and find a way to mesh the two types of players (the survivalist/guerilla and the imperialist) and keep it balanced.

THERE IS NO WAY THEY ARE GETTING EVERYONE ON 1 SERVER ATM WITHOUT EVEN WORSE LAG. And that's even with a large portion of their pop having left due to such issues. "sad!"

I dont do that but like that it could happen to me at any time.

well, seems like we agree on some stuff, but if that is truly your PoV then you are disqualifying yourself as a suggester haha. You did name two extremes but saying you'd not take either... I mean I agree with you, to a point, but it's already pretty bad as it is and I'm still playing. I think you would have liked MO1. MO2 is really a shitshow, and very few of these people on either side worry about the 'whole.' It is kind of trying to mix two things that seem opposed, but they really aren't. I think citizens should be able to be citizens and people should be penalized for killing them then let other people pvp openly haha. All this lo sec, high sec, sum sec... makes no sense to me. If you wanna play the game purely as PvE then you can, however, you cannot participate in PvP AT ALL except in self defense. Can't loot, can't push, can't blue block (people would have to choose to target you as a citizen, wouldn't even bring up a box so you couldn't disrupt fights.) Alts present a problem, but otoh people who wanna take out grief on people's alts are kinda off their rocker tbh. Plus, you would get shamed. Anyone tagging citizen who was a prominent pvper would get shit on by the community as SOFT. Add in some rules so the strong don't just ruthlessly punish the weak pvpers, but in general leave it way more open, leave the actual penalties for PKers killing PvErs. We then figure out what % of people would give up the chance to PvP at all, and just loves the MO world, would be good "data," and help with further balancing. Would def not impact play styles, either, it would just give people more proof to say "you are a legit innocent killer," etc.

Think outside the box, doods, we want a big world with different types of people (who are all known, productive society members) AND pvp, right?... right? Or do you just wanna see some name come on on your screen and mercy them and push them around and pelvic thrust them until you finally kill them?

Everything is THERE for Mo to be the most super-epic sandbox evor but there is a lack of insight from both sides. Lack of compromise. Lack of deep thought. I admit to being someone who thinks about how to fix MO, like walking down the street or something LOL something will come into my mind, but that's just how I am. I really think we need to get it working and yea, some people are gonna quit, fuck em. We *do* want (imo) a more vital game opposed to all the salty vets being happy. Plus, I don't buy their threats to quit. However, most of these viewpoints have some validity. It's just about putting it all together. Right now, it seems like they are focusing way too hard on the "I got ganked n quit" crowd of steam reviewers, believing that if they can stop that, it will help the game. False ASSUMPTION m8.

I remember the first two weeks of the game and honestly everywhere you went there were people. Lots of PVP as well. People would just go out roaming with the intention of getting into a fight. It was really easy to find them. Over the last week you can look for a fight for hours and still not find one. Go to Tindrem sewers and you will find a few solo farmers with absolute garbage tier gear. Now there is no queue, alts are extremely barren, and almost everyone is liquidating into a guild realizing that if they want to play the game they kind of have too at this point.

It really sucks man, because without people this game is just a farming simulator. I am hoping when TC comes out people come back to the game because as of late it just does not have the flare that it had in the first few weeks. They really messed up releasing a game with so many issues and it is totally possible it will end up the same way MO1 did.

I agree Christof. I hope it doesn't go in the garbage like MO1 did We'll see if Henrik and the rest have learned anything from it, in the next few weeks.

Honestly in terms of end effects the outcome to steer away seems obvious to me. You want more mechanics and features to incentivize guilds and gorups of people to battle in large PvP fight for rare reosurces, guild piints or whatever it is. You want to deincentivize large gorups of people just camping towns and hotspots and making it impossible to solo play without just being butchered over and over against insurmountable odds. Whatever consequence systems are implemented should aim to push that goal and get creative with the systems that could be employed.

Alliance System
House functions, chests for friends, guildmates
more wildlife
better balance, all the meta builds destroy balance

Stop punishing PvP
Why is PvP punished?
I dont get it.
One can PvP all day or not?

The reason many players leave is meta builds own everyone, min maxing to an extent its not fun or necessary to have 200 skills etc. , exploiting including multi accounting and elitist players stomping on everyone else.
You miss to have socializers, players playing by the rules and as intended (1 Acc on 1 Server), roleplayers and players at all not gamers gaming systems.
What you need is players playing the game and enlive the world.
What you have is gamers gaming systems to get an advantage over the Environment and other players, min maxing, exploiting and squeeze the game to death instead to enlive and enrich the gameworld with variance, social aspects that includes meaningfull , fun and fair PvP Play etc...
