Weapon Durability

When a weapons durability drops below 50% so to does it's damage. The current mechanic does not indicate to the player this is occuring unless they already know that this problem exist. Please allow use of the entire durability range for a weapon and free us from the current artificial durability value.

agreed. all this does is promote players maliciously attempting to sell low durability items to new players. There is no value in having it deal reduced damage at half durability.

Especially because, unless I'm trippin, weps seem to lose dura a lot faster in MO2. And a lot of times you can just get caught up and not realize you went under 50. Breaking a wep is pretty funny tho. Dmg should stay the same til it pops. Do I hear ayes, ok! Change it!

yes. hidden mechanics are dumb, no matter how much the devs would want us to believe they are an "exciting to discover part of the game"
either eliminate the hidden degradation even at the cost of lowering the max durability, or in the least make the degradation (and the degree of it) clearly visible

same for bows

This system especially sucks for weapons with low durability, like 1 handed swords. They already do the lowest dmg but now the only have 10 swings before they become near usless. This mechanic IMO just shouldn't exist. I shouldn't be punished for using my weapon as intended.

Didn't they reduce it to 25% or something in MO1? I know it was 50% for a long time...but I feel like i remember them changing it. Unless im crazy...

(not saying it isn't 50% in MO2, just curious why they did 50% again if they did change it to 25% in MO1)

They should remove it, or buff durability. Steel sword lasts 3 duels then u can trash it.

They should decrease the yields you get and then buff durability of weapons. The dura of weapons is way to low and we would always go thought multiple weapons in session. Weapons should just be less disposable.

CTX just duels naked because of it. Guess that's why we're the #1 merc group.

For real though the weapon durability has always been a nuisance. Durability should be raised, but new phases should be added to decrease quality over time instead of super hard drops in efficiency after X point.

Now when the new player experience is being improved it is a perfect time to remove this mechanic completely. It is enough that the weapon breaks when durability reaches 0.

The threshold for melee weapon damage reduction has been reduced to 20% durability in the latest patch, down from 50% previously.

"Balance Changes
Bows now start to lose damage when below 20% durability. Like melee weapons."

Source: https://mortalonline2.com/forums/threads/patch-notes-2-0-5-29-hotfix.12317/

But I do think it would be nice if the new player tutorial or the weapon tool-tip indicated somewhere that damage reduction occurs at the said percentage.

I dont really see what the mechanic adds.

The only thing I see is a new player playing with a bad weapon and having a hard time for no reason.

Informing the players about it is an improvement but removing it is best imo.

I would love if you could repair a weapon. Let's say a grandmaster swordsmith makes you a "unique" (I forget the name for skill 100 with special patterns) sword and you name it something snazzy. Why not make it so a grandmaster weaponsmith (a weaponsmith at x skill can only repair weapons that were made at that skill level and below) is required to repair it for you? A reasonable amount of materials (Depend on durability) to repair vs make a new one is fair to me. The grandmaster weaponsmith could also charge money to repair items. It would add that level of bonding so to speak and it means something to put the best materials possible into the sword (and seek out 100 skill to get max dura).

Then when you kill someone and take their fancy weapon, it's almost like a trophy. Not to say everyone's weapon is valuable but it adds that layer of personality. "I got player X's awesome sword and now Im going to run around with it".

IDK, it's not necessary but just feels like it would fit in MO2 and add a layer of depth for weaponsmiths. The players can choose to NOT repair the weapons and just continue mass producing like they do now.

Oh and while we're at it, let's also apply this to armors! :p

Imagine when, after years, SV listens!

I do not support repair, but I DO support salvage, if we are talking about mechanics for a game I may never play again. The fact that there isn't a salvage (could be like butchery, field salvage / table salvage) in 2024 is sad. That's what bothered me most about MO and what I try to base my suggestions on: making the game more dynamic and deep. Being able to get x% of mats would be great. Then you could salvage all of your spam weps, too. Win win.

Mainly, for me, it comes down to all the shit you don't even pick up when, if you could salvage, you might end up with more carapace than you can carry, but it'd be better. Someone would get something out of it.
