I've heard the suggestion that heavy armor should affect speed, unfort it can't. It does kill your jump. The idea it should really affect stam is another one that flopped. The way the game plays having heavy armor is good, but having skill and stam is better. Unfortunately, you don't get much of a difference.

This would affect magi a lot, so there would be more bunny hopping! Yeyyy, but what if we did two things.

1. Make it so that each armor type has a base + to your total stam. Obviously, the heavy ones would have nothing or very little, where as certain light armors could get a big buff to total stam so you could, if you played well, keep your wep swinging enough to kill a bunch of people. The stam regen would be the same your pool would just get A LOT bigger if you ran light armor. Would be more for roaming builds etc...

2. I've said this before, too, but I believe in order to make this work you have to lock heavy mats out of light armors. No more carapace shit. I dunno what the logic behind making bone a heavy mat but carp was, but that's a big problem and would make this change too OP. There are still good light sets you can make with good prots, but you're not gaining enough... I think a good boost of raw stam would be great :) HBU?

I think heavy armor sets should be stronger than light armor in the current meta. A steel set carries a lot more value than keeled/silk.

But I think the more expensive light/medium armor materials need a buff. In particular, it makes no sense to tie physical defense to gear, and magical defense to a stat you retain while naked. It makes balancing the two near impossible. If high tier low weight materials like iron wool and jadeite gave magical defense and psyche were instead used for something like cast time and recieved healing, there would be a lot more genuine reasons to run light armor for non-mage builds.

I'm also kind of hoping these "special moves" we keep hearing about have mana costs as that would definitely increase the value of light armor melee builds. Or I suppose if you went with your suggestion of increased stam on low weight then giving special moves high stam costs to those moves would work too. Though I'd actually want to see stam regen increase as a function of pool the same way mana does at that point.

Well, I mean, what about incisium guard fur? That's way better armor than keeled. I mean you can make the same armor side by side and see how much better the mat is. The heavy 'bone' mats make heavy armor optimal throw away. The reason I always end up rolling in splint is to keep my jump high and to squeeze points.

Jade is actually p heavy imo btw. Heavier than it should be given the weight of flake, it's also extra dog shit. 6kg for no extra prots.

So you don't like the stam idea? I mean, if you can kite and parry, it's pretty hard to die unless you get zerged or maged down assuming your char is somewhat fast. I got in a fight with some dude the other day and he had a flake GB, total trash gear, I had a spear and he was a hybrid. We kept clashing and then as I'd try to move out he'd corrupt/outburst w/e, then eventually - 9 minutes later - this other dude MA shows up and kills me haha. It's funny that now that I spec spear I finally start meeting people I could actually out dps w/ a sword :( Regardless, point is, stam matters and battles can get pretty prolonged in this game.
