The ToS Doesn't Say you CANNOT Talk about Existing Bugs.

I just wanted to point this out for no real reason.

I hate cheaters. Like, really hate them. They are the most pathetic kind of person.

Now, let me give you a hypothetical scenario that is non-specific to anything that has occurred in reality.

Someone reports a massive bug that could turn the game on it's head. Now.. This person then talks about this bug, but doesn't explain how to do it, just points out it's mere existence in-game.

Do they deserve a ban for that?

Keep in mind that the ToS does not mention anything in regards to merely talking about the existence of a bug.

It says :

20) You may not exploit any bug in Mortal Online 2 to gain an unfair advantage over other players. Exploits are to be reported to the ingame support personnel via the petition system.

So, you may not exploit any bug in Mortal Online 2 to gain an unfair advantage over other players.

So.. Let's say there is a made up bug in a made up game where you can make a pineapple float.

Do you deserve a ban if you say : "There is a bug that makes a pineapple float"?

Please keep in mind, this is different from saying : "Here is how you do the floating pineapple bug".

BIG difference.

FOR NO REASON, i thought it was important to mention this. That players have NO warning regarding discussing bugs in the game. There is NOTHING in the terms saying you CANNOT discuss an existing bug.

Do you not think that maybe people SHOULD know about an existing bug, so they can report people using it? You're concerned people will figure it out just from "the floating pineapple bug", and so you must be sworn to silence on it?

Really guys? Do you realise how ridiculous that is?

But beyond that, to actually BAN someone merely talking about this bug existing.. The person who actually brought it to your attention.. REALLY?

You think that person who reported it would actually tell anyone? You already KNOW people are using this bug enmasse.. You SHOULD want people to know about it, so these pathetic people can be banned. NOT the person ON YOUR SIDE bringing the bug to your attention.

So you actually stand to risk your account if you find out a bug, and mention it to anyone that isn't the help desk.

...Is what i'd say if this actually occurred. Luckily, this is entirely hypothetical, and doesn't relate to anything in reality.

The issue with people talking about bugs and exploits is that it will make others want to figure out how to do it, and possibly then exploit it. The more people know about exploits the more chance that some of them will use them.

Best to just report bugs/exploits when found and not divulge that i formation to other players. And of course do not use it yourself.

Having said that SV has a long history of clamping down hard on dissent, or anything that they dont like to hear. They have no problem letting known cheaters and exploiters back into their game, but god forbid anyone talks about it.

There are no games that i know of, where you can be banned for merely mentioning an existing bug. None.

You are banned only for purposely exploiting a bug, NEVER merely talking about one.

The terms say NOTHING about talking about bugs. So this is a hidden rule, upon which a person can be potentially banned for. That is unacceptable behavior, quite frankly.

I don't think people want GMs who behave in such a way. It makes people's account feel insecure; especially when they have NO warning or indication this is some kind of rule break.

This is unprofessional and sloppy cowboy GM behavior.

Either, they do not understand their terms, or their terms are written incorrectly. Either way, it is pure incompetence.

Release the hypothetical ban info! Show that it was within reason. Sounds like this should happen... or otherwise it's just going to continue to be posts and discord chat about this. Just clear it up already.
