The ruins from the MO1 world?

Is this the same world as MO1 or not? Anyway some big cataclism happened in MO1 right? Why not have the old ruins?

Basically there was a major disaster. The world was rended asunder by what sounded like a swarm of pissed off bees, but am told were megnatons. This upheaval was so catastrophic that it lead to towns and empires being poltically the same and located in the exact same place. Also everything is fine everywhere and you'd have no idea it ever happened by looking around.
