I lay down my katana. I put on my wizard hat and commit seppuku.
It wasn't for lack of effort. I admit that I am not into practicing for hours in this lagfest game, but I tend to see what's happening (which is why I believe that I can change absurd things, like achieve Katana success in my playstyle.) The play style you THINK Katana would fit, if you ever played Bushido Blade, you know, running around and just slicing people open. However! There are problems. Yes, katana is light, but it is short range and low damage. Even if you dodge, you are risking at best getting hit (trade) coming back out and giving people a longer window to see and parry (because you have to get closer.)
The ideal play style for Katana would actually be a character that could absorb some damage playing in a normal V, high level parry outplay. Swing speed is insane, pressure is there, but I still think Katana is very undertuned in terms of dmg, for such a short sword, it should be at least slashing well, if not piercing pretty well.
My play style is movement and slashing people with wide arcs from weird angles. I can do it with a GB, but now I will try the... what is it, the thin long sword? I was fighting a wolf and it was like OMG range. Imagine not having to take a step forward to hit things in pve.
I cry for Katana because I think it was longer in MO1 and i know it had more damage. Katana pole was fun, too (for me.) Now, I hate admitting defeat, but I have to say I just can't do anything with it! It's actually quite effective for stuff like farming the GY tho haha. It works well vs humanoids IN THEORY but like Bruce Lee said "(Zombies) ... don't hit back."
I def ask for a buff to dmg. To me, I've found armor doesn't really matter. I get bodied about the same if I'm taking 25s or 45s. It's whether or not I'm hitting for high dmg that determines whether I can have a chance to win. I can't beat someone hitting them for 20s. :*( I lack discipline. Make Katana a punishment wep. If dagger is a punishment wep, katana should at least be a pseudo punishment wep. I could take a few hard hit trades then I'd have some pressure chance, but when I look back and realize I have 1/3rd health and they have 75% it's like... hm.
For now tho, I put on shelf.
