And they did it again !!
One more time, the designers had the brilliant idea of placing MORE Tindremic elite guards outside town...

We ask for THIEVERY and they give us GUARDS.

This time, they decided to ruin another quick action spot for PvP... They placed tons of guards in the small road that leads to Medulis Tower. Guards on the rocks, on the north side, near the water. Ruining part of Medulis south beach area that we used to have cool fights.

Has anybody asked for it ? NO
Why did they do it ? Mystery
Did they give us Thieving ? No, they gave Guards
Did they ruin a spot that we used for quick PvP ? Hell yes... One of the few spots we still had on this game to log in and quickly find a battle...

The world is completely empty. The most "crowded" place is Meduli... Its already hard to find a place for a quick casual PvP... its easier to do it near Meduli, obviously...
But now they ruined one of these quick pvp spots.

Devs, why do you hate so much your veteran core players ?
Why not just turn this whole game into a no-PvP game ?

This time my finger was very close to the "Cancel subscriptions" button.
Very frustrating.

I dare to find ONE HONEST MO2 player that thinks its a good idea to fill a wilderness area with Elite Tindreic Guards.

I'm pretty sure there are quiet a few carebears that want this to be a perfectly safe gathering simulator like every other game in existence...

Ah man, what is Rivers and his 3 guarzone ganking friends going to do now? Their whole game loop is ruined.

Seriously. Who cares about more guards in an already guarded zone? Only guardzone pvpers care. Go play in the lawless areas if you really want unrestricted pvp. Go play in the 98% of the map that doesn't have guards, instead of sitting just outside the guarzone and complain that “omg! There are guards here!? Omg ! I thought there were 2 guards! Instead there are 4! Omg! Omg!”

Pathetic.

And to all those that say “the whole world is empty. Its hard to find pvp”. No it isnt. You’re just too scared to go fight other pvpers. You know exaclty where they are. Which dungeons they farm. You know exactly where you are going to get your ass kicked. You just don't want a hard fight. You want to gank easy targets outside blue towns.

AH, come on.. I gotta reply this :

First, lets answer your questions :

1 - Ah man, what is Rivers and his 3 guarzone ganking friends going to do now? Their whole game loop is ruined.

I have nothing to do with Rivers. I simply kill people outside town anywhere in the world. I dont attack people INSIDE guarded areas.

2 - Who cares about more guards in an already guarded zone?

The place im talking about was NOT A GUARDED ZONE.

3 - Go play in the lawless areas if you really want unrestricted pvp.

Dude, I play everywhere, From Necro dungeon to Tindrem, Jungle Camp to Gaul Kor. Its absolutely empty. Unless you re talking about guild fights, which I dont participate.

4 - You’re just too scared to go fight other pvpers. You know exaclty where they are. Which dungeons they farm. You know exactly where you are going to get your ass kicked. You just don't want a hard fight. You want to gank easy targets outside blue towns.

You dont know me and have absolutely no idea about how I play this game, so dont spit out your general commom arguments...
I play alone and wont engage in battles with more than 4 or 5 people against me. I gotta find other lonely players wandering around or small groups to strike... And it usually happens near towns.
Theres nothing wrong in playing an evil char that murders people on a full loot pvp game. im doing nothing wrong, and am playing inside the rules !
I dont grief and dont ress kill.

My point is : this was supposed to be a hardcore game and day by day the devs make this game softer just to please a dozen of carebears that complain.... And these carebears probably have nice close contacts with the game staff.

You said "Pathetic"...

Pathetic is to cry to our devs and beg them to place guards somewhere just because you cant defend yourself...

Even more PATHETIC is our game designers to attend to these carebears and actually place the god damn guards wherever they ask to be placed !!!

Its simple math Manure. If all the unrestricted pvp zones are empty, and the only place with players are the safe zones, then to get more players (and pvp) you need more safe zones.

Plain and simple.

Unrestricted pvp zones do not increase or even retain players. Unrestricted pvp zones are dead zones. Your own words. Stop trying to make the whole game a dead zone. A game like this thrives on balance between safe zones, and unsafe zones. You need both.

Im guessing from how triggered you are by all this, rhat you are one of those 3 friends of Rivers. Im sorry that you lost prime guarzone pvp area. Im sure you’ll find more soon. You cant handle moving too far from it anyways.

Im not "one of the 3 friends of Rivers", but Id stand by his side everyday against blues. I dont attack reds, only blues !

And no, we dont need safe zones to get more players.
We need content, less guards and freedom.
Where were you in february 2022 ? This game was 200% more hardcore than today, absolutely no insta killing guards anywhere, and the population was giant !
The game was FUN, despite all the dangers. Danger made the game exciting.

Today I can travel from Fabernum to Tindrem carrying a Keep deed and 12k Gold with ABSOLUTELY NO FEAR at all.... Just by following the guard towers...
Is it FUN for you ?

Ever travelled from Moh Ki to Bakti these days ? You see more guard towers than trees ! Ridiculous.

Hell.. We didnt need even MORE guards added to Meduli...
We need Thieving, lockpicking, Boats, Sea monsters, Illusionism, Poisoning,... CONTENT.. NOT GUARDS.
For gods sake.. NOT GUARDS

N O T GUARDS

You keep shouting that, and yet, the only place you find any fun is precisely where the guards are.

You are completely blind to the oxymoron of your logic. This is your argument:

98% of the map has no guards=cant find any fun or any pvp.

2% of the map has guards=always find fun and pvp.

Your solution? Remove the 2%.

Its pointless arguing with someone this nonsensical. Good luck.

Ah, dude, whatever !
Keep celebrating these kind of good moves by the Devs... Placing more guards in the wilderness is making this game greater than ever.
Very clever indeed.

Next step is placing tindremic elite guards inside dungeons too.
hey Carebears... why dont you suggest this ?
Tell the Devs to place some guards at Necro Dungeon entrance... Maybe also inside. It will bring more players. Do it.

Amen

They want to disincentivize town pvp for obvious reasons. Which I am ok with and I support but we need something in place first to absorb the "quick action players" IE: A minigame mode like Last man standing or an Arena or an item like filaments in EVE that teleports you to a high traffic wilderness area.

Anything really, because currently there is nothing in the sandbox for quick action players besides town pvp.

Yes, thats what I said... we need content, we dont need guards.
Thievery, boats, taven games, poisoning, sea monsters, lockpicking... this is what we need.

I wish there was absolutely no guards outside town.

Towns do need, indeed, to have some guards. But guards OUTSIDE towns is totally non sense.

Id remove guards from Meduli cemetery, from Toxai outskirts, from the roads and from fishing lake near Meduli.
This simple move would bring a lot of action to this game, 100% granted

Allow me to tell you the full story of why I suspect those guards were placed:

Some of you may already recognize my name, but essentially, I was in the Meduli docks firing arrows into Meduli, killing people and their pets in town; people were not pleased with this, but that is kind of the point. It is to provoke a response that will lead to eventual PVP and fun; that is what criminals are supposed to do, right?

Now, originally, the guards were not along the pier, they simply placed them on the boat I was shooting from, and some guards on a ship right next to it.

Then... Something very strange happened...

I decided i'd simply kill the guards on the boat and ship by shooting them from the pier. So, I kill the guard on the boat, and suddenly, I die instantly to KHURITE guards.

What I suspect happened here, was that someone who had placed the previous guards was actually watching me when I attacked the guard on the boat, and they purposely dropped the wrong guards on my head, to try to prevent me from shooting the guards.

I return in a couple of hours or so, only to find the pier is now lined with Tindremic guards (they placed the right guards this time), and the guard on the boat i was shooting from was now a Licter guard.

Coincidentally, this all occurred after a particular guild associated with the area had recently got into a nave chat argument with me.

In essence, It almost seemed like a series of players leveraged the GMs to place these guards. When they realized it would not stop me, they childishly dropped the guards on my head in frustration.

Of course, I just went right back and killed all the guards on the pier from the ocean and continued doing what I was doing anyway.

I can't say for certain that there is some kind of corruption going on with the GMs, but that is certainly what it looked like. It seems like some players have leverage over the makers of the game.

Now.. This has me nervous, because what if they just decide they don't want me on the game anymore because of how i'm playing. If they're willing to drop guards on my head and not respond when i submit a ticket, what if it gets worse? I think it was just a way to try and deter me without officially warning me; because to officially warn me for just playing the game might send the wrong message. They probably thought putting guards down is a good middle ground (until i started killing them of course).

Honestly, who knows for certain why this happened, but I think it shows whoever is influencing the game is leaning it in the wrong direction. They may as well just put safe zones in if they're going to prevent people from attacking those in town (upon which i suspect a lot of people would quit the game, including myself).

This is a great post, I think the devs should be looking at what updates we can make to make people like sally quit the game and replace them with Bobs. You don't add any value to the game, economically or content. You are naked, killing pets with a bow. I love how you're trying to negotiate with the devs with an ultimatum though, as if you're some main character in the game that content loops or economy revolve around.

Shhhhhhh, it is okay... You can always buy a new horse.

But yes, to address your argument: I'm actually wearing armor that I made, using bows that I made. So i'm not naked, although it is quite cheap for me to do what I do. It is also very difficult to get the resources to the location where I can use them conveniently when you consider that I have the lowest possible reputation, and can't really use the markets, but i've had plenty of time to set all of that up. All in all, it certainly isn't easy to get it all going so consistently on my own. Add to this, i'm not well liked by the players either, and so they often try to kill me, and sometimes actively watch areas I may turn up. So adding all of this together, it makes a very difficult experience that isn't easily corrected overnight. I can't just instantly fix my reputation and make people like me.

Saying "you don't add value to the game" is a just a lack of depth of thinking on your part. How do you think the person feels who finally kills me after doing what I do? People enjoy killing the people they don't like. I'm adding meaning to the game. The more they dislike me, the better they will feel when they win. What I'm doing is not so overwhelming that it cannot be dealt with either. All you need is a mage that can swim and i'm helpless pretty much; or on land, a semi-decent pet with armor on. Basically, what i'm saying is: I can lose.

This isn't the same as ele-bombing.. I can be killed, as i am outside of town. There is a big difference. I'm in a place where PVP can occur. I'm not in a safe area. I'm also a red player on top of that.

Real griefers are people like Miscreants.. They remain blue, yet they mess with people in town all of the time. They ele-bomb etc... Ele-bombing gives the person being attacked no chance to get revenge at all and they lose nothing whilst taking potentially hundreds of gold from the individual they're attacking, with basically no time to react. That is real griefing.

I'm creating an event for people to partake in. I'm a criminal engaging in crime. This is an intended part of the game.

I would argue that it is people like you who really detract value from the game, because you would be happy with safe zones. You have plenty of games where you can play with safe zones, yet you want to come to this very niche game and try to get that corrected seemingly.

Also... I take great offense to you suggesting i am not the main character.

Cringe, delusional, brain damaged from obvious drug abuse. I'm happy with what works. The avg concurrent is 600 you moron. Whatever we have now isn't working. If this game goes offline then you don't really have a choice of whether or not you quit.

I was just laughing at the fact you were making an ultimatum about your sub in regards to more guards "if they keep adding guards ill ubsub". Ok cool. Lets talk about how we can make updates that will generate subs rather then worry about the one guy that no one likes and everyone thinks is weird anyway that is going to unsub if we make the game accessible to more then 600 global.

Onto something constructive: We need a quick action solution from Starvault. Then after that you can crack down on bluezones. It would alleviate alot of the "towny concern" which is mostly mortals most unendowed and unimaginative players, a containment zone is necessary for them.

Every sandbox currently out and populated by more then 1k concurrent has a quick action solution, or multiple forms of one. We need Mortal to be competitive with the rest of the genre. This should be high priority for Starvault but it shouldnt be top priorty.

So emotional... You must've really loved that horse.

Cringe is when emotional weirdos like you try to change games that were not made for you because you can't look outside of your own selfish lens of the world.

There is literally no depth to your thinking. Your horse probably died in town, and your first thought was "me no like that!!", and you didn't think beyond that.

That is literally 95% of people who try to critique the game. They are looking entirely from a selfish and superficial perspective.

Yes, let's just stop all killing in towns. That won't spoil a game that has a focus on immersion.

Or let's put invincible guards that teleport onto your head if you attack them. Yes, very fun.. It doesn't break the suspension of disbelief.

Criminals aren't allowed to have fun! No.. They should be punished constantly non-stop until they have no fun!

No you idiot.. You need criminal players to also enjoy the game. Criminals are an important factor to the ecosystem. They are what add emotional tension when doing various things out in the world, or in town. They create dilemmas and force the player to make difficult decisions and judgements.. You just aren't think about any of this at all, or their importance to the ecosystem of the game.

As i explained, if you want to play a baby game, you have plenty out there to choose from; why not play world of warcraft? This game is not for people like you; your weakness is a poison to a game like this. You turn this game into some soft safe baby game, it will be beaten by the competition that already provide that. You would have it lose it's niche, it's main selling point, just because you're a weird sensitive crybaby. It's just so stupid.

You don't want your pet to die in town?? Put it in a stable. Like.. Why do you need to be told something so obvious? Your pet died because you failed to think that it could be harmed. You felt entitled to safety. You let your guard down and thought you were safe. It was your own stupidity; not the person ele-bombing you or shooting arrows into town. You already have options to prevent that occurring.

No, let's put more guards down because you're too lazy and stupid to put your pet in a stable. It is like you're begging to be spoonfed.

There should be NO safezones. If you want safety and to let your guard down, logout.

I'd compromise on a safe zone for pets if it led to them removing many guards and opening up the game. They could easily make it so that in the middle of towns that your pet becomes invisible, as if it was stabled.

One can say that if people were gonna move stacks from one spot to another, even in town, that the pet should appear and be vulnerable, but I would even compromise on that. The fact is that they are not protecting pets as it is and they have ruined a lot of the game with crazy guards. Piles of lictors are crazy. Getting hit for 50s in decent armor by elite guards is crazy.

If they could remove all of that shit and just have some normal powered guards patrolling and maybe stationed at certain spots, I would take the removal of bank bombing in an instant. If people can't wait a bit to get at your pet / kill you then they aren't built.

BUT I don't see it happening. Just saying that would probably be the best option.
