At present it's an unreliable mess. I'm aware that while holding nothing it kinda sorta "works" but the threshold for held weight that causes you to drown is incredibly low. Like, if you harvest a few reedmace plants and LOL SLIPPED ON A FUCKIN' BANANA PEEL now you're drowning because reasons. Some players have told me that /droploot works, but that isn't the point. If you are serious about ever putting in underwater anything you gotta fix this. Please also fix the shorelines, some of them you simply slide right into with little warning and can not climb out of.

tl;dr adjusting drowning weight to be more forgiving will encourage exploring water areas and will be meaningful if Henrik was serious about us exploring an underwater city.

The main problem with swimming is that if you are overweight the bottom of the water is basically a greased sheet of glass. And that applies if there is like any slope to the ground surface whatsoever. Even a very slight one. So you're like "Hey, creek looks pretty shallow here, I see no current, safe to walk across right?" WRONG. You dabble your toes in the water and suddenly you're sucked into a black hole 30 feet away with water over your head and drowning.

The two forces on your character if you aren't buoyant should be straight down and the direction of the current if one exists. You shouldn't slide around unless you're on a slope that would cause you to fall if you were above water.
