UPDATE:
This thread is now obsolete as weapon crafting was added to the game and all the weapon head names have been changed.

Hello dear reader,
Currently a few of the weapons in the alpha (namely swords) are incorrectly named.
Here is a list of them along with their correct names:
1. The "Estoc Hilt with Bastard Blade"
This blade is clearly a roman gladius. Pretty straight forward. The hilt is accurate for an estoc though.
2. The "Broadsword Hilt with Broadsword Blade"
This one is a little more forgivable, as the term broadsword is often misused to describe what is in reality an arming sword, as is seen here.
The real broadsword is more verbosely known as the "Scottish basket-hilted broadsword", which looks like this:
or this:
The basket hilt is crucial to an accurate broadsword, along with the characteristic multiple fuller design (Usually three).
3. The "Bastard Hilt with Estoc Blade"
For reference, this is what an Estoc is:
Estocs are very long thin two handed thrusting blades. Usually without an edge at all, straight to the point.
The astute among you may have noticed however that this blade is essentially a broadsword blade, just lacking the basket hilt.
In summary, It's a broadsword blade not an estoc blade.
Regarding the "bastard hilt" a bastard sword is a sword that fits in between an arming sword and a long sword in length, or more simply put a sword that is "longer than a normal arming sword", as such the bastard hilt could potentially be used in both one and two handed grips.
Perhaps this is the obvious choice for creating a hilt that can be used in two hands, but will also work in one hand with a shield or torch equipped, only slower and costing more stamina.
4. The "Rapier Hilt with Rapier Blade"
This blade is far too wide to be a rapier, along with having a spine fuller and a slanted point.
This blade is more akin to a katana, simply stuck onto a cup guard hilt.
Although rapiers varied a lot throughout the world, the quintessential rapiers are thin, slender, flexible thrusting blades with a needle point as seen here:
This concludes my assessment of the naming mistakes currently present in the alpha.
I will leave you with a quick and easy guide on what to do in order to fix these problems:
1. Rename the "Bastard blade" to "Gladius blade"
2. Rename the "Estoc blade" to "Broadsword blade"
3. Rename the "Broadsword blade" to "Arming sword blade" - (Although this one might pass as a Bastard sword as it is quite long)
4. Rename the "Rapier blade" to anything else really. Maybe you could get away with calling it a cutlass if only it wasn't straight.
Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day.
Edit: I noticed the current messer hilt in game is also incorrect, which is odd because we can see SV already has a real messer on the weapon racks in Fabernum.
We can also see a prime candidate for a real bastard sword on these racks as well:
Two handed hilt, but the blade is only slightly longer than a normal arming sword. Usable in both one or two hands.
