When reading about MO2 features PVE section at the bottom you read:

"The world of Nave is also home to horrible and fantastical creatures. Large creatures that require large groups and preparation to take down. Some of the largest of these creatures only spawn once and once killed they never come back."

THIS HAS ME PUMPED! Imagine BEING able to TAME/Dominate a Creature that NO one else will have!

The beastmastery pets weren't that bad. They did ruin small scale though. They didn't scale well in big fights where they could just be bowed down.

I hope to god we dont have alates again or dragons as pets
Alates were never really what was to be feared. It was mostly giant white Khurnas/danburu/mino/ or spider queen. One time i had a mino defeat 3 players in full steel while i stabbed with spear an used magic ??

That shit ruined PvP if I'm being honest. As cool as it may have been to have them...
I always thought melee online was what was boring to myself. I liked mage/ tamer/ magic/ ranged. I liked every class except foot fighter. Parry and dash and slash didn't seem as fun to me but to each their own.

If anything i feel like Tamer/Dom pets should be buffed since now days Necro can just full on summon his own and tamers/doms have to go through the process of finding their pets. I am super excited to see what pets i can get in the new one especially if rare spawns of just 1 monster start appearing.

Oh in small scale battles mc defeated any pets. The trick is to move circles and charge swing because Mo1s shitty Ai would just keep turning. The only ground pet that really did anything was that Khurna cuz Earthquake Aoe Mc. I really liked Demon Bats though too. Mino had 1 charge attack but after that his attacks too slow to hit mc lol.

A long time ago there was a glitch in the game that let you get Thorax. But that was patched many moons ago.

It makes me sad you even think MC when speaking about small scale. It just shows how far gone MO1 became...

Bottom line, pets made PvP stupid. Largely due to the AI pathing, insane amount of HP, Insanely high damage, without having stamina. They were basically better than another player in every way...especially the DKs.

Pets were one of the many things that actually killed the game. They weren't balanced for shit. Nobody likes dying to gimmicks in a full loot "skill based" game.

While I agree on the pets part, I disagree on the MC part. Why would an MC not be part of small scale fighting? Do you want anyone using a mount being forced to only attend 10+ fights?

You should be careful what you call a gimmick in sandbox MMO. This game is about including different kinds of playstyles - not providing a footfighting arena because you consider that the most skillful class. You can organise such an arena though and I´m sure people would come.

It´s silly to assume that this time around SV will listen to guys like you. Their vision has not changed and it does not include the focus you want. There will be guards, there will be pets, there will be mounts and there will be grind. I´d advice you to make suggestions to actually improve on all these things rather than making the same salty comments about what kind of game you think they should develop.

We already know that guards should follow the same "logic" as player characters. So it´s not far fetched that pets will be have similar restrictions as well.

I have no problem with non foot fighter classes as I played them the majority of my playtime. That said, any of the pets from sarduccaa, even the damn stone lizards, were far more powerful than they had any right to be and messed with the game balance heavily. The comparison point I feel for the strongest acceptable pet would be the nitre spider queen. It was quite powerful but not incredibly tanky and had a clear and defined means of dealing with it. It also had a clear and defined strength in its ranged attacks. The issue was with things like pvp bow dks that had no real weakness aside from killing their controller. There are ways to balance these to make it possible but allowing pets to tame/dominate the most powerful creatures in the game is a bad idea. Lesser kimuru sure, greater kimuru hell no.

Nothin like a good ol' spider queen chasing a few dudes up a mountain and going underground like a mole only to pop up and suck them back and off the edge of a mountain, lmao. If they couldn't even kill the queen they don't deserve to play hah.

MC can be part of small scale fighting. I was just saying it makes me sad thats the first thing that comes to his mind when thinking about small scale PvP. MC is what it is...but lets not try to pretend it was skillful or balanced in ANY single way. It was literally sitting on top of OP mounts holding left click and clicking your potion if you took damage. Doesn't matter though and that wasn't even my intention with what I said.

Why would you think I would want people using a mount to be forced to attend 10+ fights? How did your brain even come up with that?

I don't want this game to be a footfight arena. I played all the "classes" myself. If it was a footfighting arena it would be a bit stale I agree.

And why should they listen to guys like you? Sounds like you're trying to gatekeep feedback on the game imo. Its also a stupid thing to say, because I myself have suggested countless things that have been added to MO1 and hopefully MO2 for the better.

I´d advice you to make suggestions to actually improve on all these things rather than making the same salty comments about what kind of game you think they should develop.
I literally have made suggestions to improve all these things a thousand times over. I'm surprised I'm even having to defend myself here. I think you must have taken a turn for the worst over the few years. You're twisting words and making bitchy posts and its just not even enjoyable to discuss things with you. So yeah. Good luck on getting your opinion out there for people to take seriously...

and also good job at getting yet another thread cleaned here pretty soon.

Actually I remember a couple of points in MO1s lifetime when MCs were balanced. I can´t speak to the end of it since I wasn´t playing then. My main point is that they should be viable in any scale if played correctly. The problem always was the mounts, everything else was just windowdressing.

Returning to the OT I think it´s good if mounted players are a counter to pets. That does not mean that you need them to defeat a pet. It´s more like blunt damage is good against heavy armor. It helps - sometimes it help a lot. Since we don´t know very much of SVs plans for both those system this discussion is premature at best.

I´m just gonna ignore most of the ad hominem stuff. I said that it´s silly to assume that SV WILL listen to you. Not that they shouldn´t. I mean how do you think it helps getting your point across if you call a bunch of features gimmicks?

This could be super cool. It gives players the opportunity to become renowned not just for their combat prowess or their leadership skills, or how many people they murder.

I think it is vital to acknowledge moving forward, and something that many seem to be ignoring... that this is not MO1. Yes, in MO1 pets were a handful and not balanced very well due to the implementation. The lack of stamina, the issues pathing, etc.

Stop responding to and giving feedback when being so jaded. Remember that this is MO2, where they have already showed their engine is a lot more powerful and dynamic. We will see AI come late October / November. I imagine it will stand FAR above the standard MO1 left.

I don't think its a matter of being jaded. Its just that we all want MO2 to be the best it can be. Simply expecting things to be "far above the standard of MO1" is just naive. I will continue to voice my opinions and feedback until the day I quit playing the game. Its just how it is. Its important to know I'm not commenting on these things in a bitchy way though. I'm just expressing my opinion on how I feel about things and how many many others I have spoken to feel about them. I'm not trying to carve some basic footfighter online version of the game as some of you suggest. I want all of it. I just want it done to where its enjoyable for everyone.

If what I say bothers you thats fine, but thats not my problem.
