Spear question

I enjoy using spears as a back up weapon for my archer. I’ve had very little melee combat experience vs another player but am questioning whether or not a spear could work in pvp. It seems extremely obvious to me what direction an attack would come from (thrust) and thus super easy to parry. Am I wrong? The spear has served me well farming to finish off animals or poke mobs in group pve when not using a bow….but should I consider a switch to a different weapon? I’m high dex so when I kicked this off spear made sense.
Thoughts?

Spears are good for PvP and PvE.

spears are one of the weapons that are a bit over tuned in PvP right now.
