Some taming suggestions

Allow for a UO style pet bonding. Keep it limited and tied to a skill. For example, Animal care at 50 Skill allows for one bond while maxed animal care allows for 2 bonded pets. Or alternatively, just allow 1 bond at max animal care skill.

Next would be the means of resurrecting bonded pets. I suggest this can only be accomplished by someone with both animal care and veterinary skills maxed. This would force an interaction with tamers for people that can't rez and give an avenue to generate income. Also, consider making the rez require a specific material beyond a bandage.

It is really frustrating to get a pet to 125 only to moments later have a group of 9 roll through and decimate it and you. I think this could be a decent mechanic if thoughtfully added. It would add a layer of attractiveness to the taming profession.

I already do and that's why I haven't invested any skill points or gameplay into animal care, beast mastery, beast influence, vet, leveling a pet in general, or trying to heal via bandies. I know one of those beast skills isn't even working, but my point is the same. There is a built-in leveling system for pets and right now its like why try to engage with all that cool pet stuff when they are so "disposable". I'm not saying every pet ever is bonded to everyone all the time. It would be a benefit to a deep skill path commitment.

That would require that they are not only quick and easy to loose, but also quick and easy to replace, which just is not the case.

Thats a bit as if apple would remove the ability to be charged from its phone and says to its customers to just learn to treat them as disposable. Yeah... not going to happen with a 1k$ phone, maybe if the cost was reduced to 5$.

Pets are by far the most difficult 'weapon' to replace. Its cheap and easy to stock up a few reagents for a mage, its cheap and easy to buy or craft a perfect bow, its cheap and easy to get a decent melee weapon. But getting a decent pet takes a long time and is much more difficult, yet it is even easier to loose them. That just does not make sense.
Either they should be much more difficult to loose than other weapons, then its ok that they are more difficult to obtain, or they should be easier to obtain than other weapons, then its ok that they are easier to loose. But the combination of the easiest thing to loose and the hardest thing to obtain just does not make sense.

I too think resurrection of pets should be a thing. But maybe it shouldn't be tied to taming but spiritism to promote interaction more and it just doesn't really fit to taming.

So someone with spiritism could head out and collect the different essences of animal groups such mammalia or Aves where the higher the level of an animal it yields more and could sell them. Same for resurrecting... the higher the level the more essences you need.

Maybe it would be good to have another option with an spiritism npc where you could also ress it for quite a high gold price as a last resort when there just is no other way.

Dunno I but I think that would be 3 ways to get a pet back... trade, gold sink or tame again 😶
