Especially in this more ranged focused meta, but also in meele metas make no mistake, size as a stat is so weak now after you increase everythinf it gave baseline while not buffing its numbers, strength also got weaker, so did con and so did psyche, bur none of rhese have a crucial issue that makes it way worse other than size.
Size has an inherent negative of making your character taller therefore easier to see, focus, hit by A LOT.
If a stat that COSTS ATTRIBUTE POINTS also has a negative it needs to have a bigger positive than othee stats to compensate
That was somwhat true (and even then size was weak but there was an argument to be made) in the early mortal.
Size gives around 0.33 hp and 0.33 dmg bonus per attribute point, so for 15 size which is 30 cm you gain around 5 hp and 5 dmg bonus and you are way easier to hit and stand out and will get called out first every fight and can be tracked and its easier to feint vs you, people never miss melee or range, you cant go through some places, you swim worse, you take more fall damage, mobs agro from further away and stay longer on you, you cant ride all animals and need high level ones... there is more you get the point.
Size is already fighting an uphill battle, but at least early on, 5% dmg bonus and 5 health meant a bit, or a big difference between races, like Veela having 13% dmg bonus and 180 health while Thursar and Kallard Human had 210-215. Oghmir also had 215 back then but got base con buffed multiple times since. Pots used to be rare and heal for less, hotfood too, rejuvenate didnt exist, armor pierce for Veelas didnt either, what else is there, better armors, brace, more defenses, higher heals for everyone, everyone having around 30-40 more health and better rings and 5% more damage bonus etc. all take away power from that flat buff of size that already wasnt good.
And since this is the only stat thats fighting versus a static or even worsening negative due to meta change, it needs higher numbers more than anything
All rhe high health high dmg bonus high size characters are the lowest pickrate rn, Henrik confirmed Thursars and Oghmirs both at 14% each and Kallard human 7% of ONLY HUMANS while the ones with lower of those stats are the most popular, Veela Sheevra at 42% total and less healthy Human also being way more picked... Its clear as day whats meta and whats not.
Size is weak, a net negative in the current meta and needs buffs.
So my proposal is very simple.
Buff the health it gives by a significant amount and slightly buff the dmg bonus it gives. That's it. Dont overthink it just ever so slightly buff the health modifier in size. From 0.3 to 0.5 lets say. And then buff damage bonus it gives from 0.3 to 0.4 lets say maybe even lower but you get the point. Its feels so much more free and relieving and worth it playing even a smaller Thursar than the largest one.
This has been discussed and mentioned many times with Nebulos acknowledging it sayinf they are working on it and then forgetting.
Size should be stronger and not a net negative anymore.
