Shadows during the day should be lighter

I find shadows very dark during the day, more so than they would be in real life. It makes anything in the game which is cast into shadow, whether by trees or mountains, very dark and depressing.

I have no idea how easy it would be to set ambient lighting to increase during the day and fade at night, but if that was possible it would make a huge difference to how the game feels.

Do you agree or disagree?

The screenshot below was taken at 6pm in the evening (in-game time). I live in the UK, which has similar daylight hours to Mortal Online during the summer. The weather in game was bright, clear and sunny (okay, that doesn't happen a lot in the UK, but bear with me here). In real life, there would normally be enough ambient light to make the foreground perfectly clear, but the shadow the mountain casts makes it look like it's after dusk.

Even if you have your gamma turned up, it still feels very dark and gloomy.

Yeah I have to play with gamma up all the time since you cant parry anything with shadows on. Only game that doesnt let you remove shadows because of screenshots looking bad...

Yes, thank you! I think, actually, that this permanent twilight feeling makes a lot of videos and screenshots look worse. You only get a pretty screenshot if you are in full sunlight, or taking one into the sun. 90% of the screenshots and videos I see posted on discord or youtube look really dim.

Shadows and lighting effects arent perfect but they are far from horrible , Starvaut will be durasticly improving these features with the UE5 update.

It's not that they are horrible, or that there's an issue with the game engine itself. It feels like the ambient light setting is off or too low during daylight. Maybe it's a universal setting because they wanted night to be really dark. I don't know if UE5 would fix it but we can hope.
