WAT. Wow.

I just saw this. I'm not sure I like their 'from the ground up sandbox' idea, as I have said, but I think it definitely is worth it as a b2p EA game for a year or so, at least.

I really do/did want MO2 to be good, and I wanted to help them see what is holding them back (because I don't think they do?,) but what can ya do.

I hope they will change their mind and add in some static cities. I will say again, it's very sad about MO2. I admit i feel a bit less sad now that I see this game is coming out in less than two weeks haha.

Oh well, hopefully MO2 will turn around, too.

btw, yoo I'm down for something if some dudes on MoFo wanna group up. Otherwise, who knows. Def gonna play. I dunno what my time will be like, but I enjoy doing menial shit. I'm not as into stuff like building / designing, but I will gather manymats and go out hunting.

Edit: + I'll get a proper chance to work on cooking / other systems hue.

Still gonna wipe though it looks like.

--------------------------------------------------
HOW LONG WILL THE GAME REMAIN IN EARLY ACCESS?
Pax Dei’s Early Access is scheduled to last until at least June 2025, possibly longer.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY WIPING THE GAME? HOW OFTEN WILL THAT HAPPEN?
Throughout Early Access, as we expand the game both in terms of content and systems, we anticipate major updates that will require us to reset the game entirely and start over.

That being said, we will do our best to keep such wipes as few and far between as possible.

Ideally, we will also try to do them only partially: major changes on the terrain of the Home Valleys could lead to a reset of all the plots, but not to your characters. Some deep changes in the skill systems or the crafting progression could lead to a reset of the characters but not the plots…

At least one complete wipe/reset will occur just before the full release, and it should be the last one, as we don’t plan to wipe once the game is no longer in Early Access - once it is fully released.

^ Yeah, I am not mad at wipes, especially if they let people keep their characters. In this game, you gotta get a bunch of stuff to be able to build certain benches, and you have to grind that out. Once you have the ability to craft things at a decent level, getting the mats isn't as bad. I think wipes are kinda maligned. We all know how I feel about MO and wipes haha. But this community is super crazy about stuff like that. Just talking about it is shocking. Remember when they used to close every thread talking about wiping because people would get so triggered?

I think anyone playing this that early will gladly come back to MO2 😂

haha, yeah, if you are able to play MO2 at all, it's not worth looking at another game. MO2 is what it is though. If it's not what you want, it's not gonna change. It's near impossible unless they take a step back or unless they do something like I suggested (add social roles, make towns into a resource... etc.) The loop is what it is, and it's not gonna change. They did not achieve sandbox.

In this case, where MO2 looks like a situation where they painted themselves into a corner, something fresh seems desirable. Just me tho. We shall see.

The week before they are having some competitions between different streamers and their groups/clans.

here is a link...

So basically I am wondering if these groups will keep their progress.

I know this is not the place to get such answers. Just expressing my thoughts is all.

I would say 95% they won't. But, as I spoke on the Reddit, once people do get some progress, the others will be able to gear more easily by trading for gear, etc, but I would be surprised if they didn't start EA with a clean slate.

That being said, I dunno how I feel about said contest. It's cool that they are gonna do it, but why burn everyone out? Who knows, maybe they do plan to let them keep the progress.

I JUST DUNNO ANYMORE. People make strange decisions, let's say. I assume they want more things to show off because people are saying their game is bare? It's hard to say.

Yeah, I can see a few sides.

They may just be doing it to build hype and starting fresh after.

Or they could be trying to get somethings in the world for release.

I would prefer a fresh start on early access personally.

1000% loool, but I mean "what is pve?" If Pve is gathering and exploring, I kinda dig pax over MO. I don't like dungeons or fighting mobs really. Been there. I've never killed any good mobs in pax, so I can't say what it feels like to win. I shot a bow a tiny bit, but it was an awful bow... trash trajectory and damage.

I want 'a world' as I have said. I want people interacting and to live within the margins of that. Whether I am going out to pound on a rock or to slay wild deerz, if those conditions are fulfilled, I am satisfied.

To me, PvE is world based. So, even in a hardcore PvP game like MO1, there can be good PvE because PvE is... living. I know Pax is nowhere near that right now, and I think it might be a superslog in the beginning. In the end, it might still not be what I want if they choose to keeps walls and such.

I haven't played MO for more than a short while since 23. I logged in once right before sub started, and then I logged in after 2nd char. I am still not comfy logging in to use my free sub on my main accts, that's how I feel about MO.

Pax is very bare. Maybe they will listen to the community. As I posted on their Reddit, to someone who said they don't think it's ready for early access:

The game is gonna encounter problems, for sure. That's why they are keeping the options open on wiping. Those problems will likely not be encountered, fully, if there aren't people trying to play. Even in EA, people are gonna be going hard because people are weirdos. The limitations will become apparent, over and over. The thing is, I want to be there when that happens, and I hope people (myself included lol) can come to conclusions that allow them to move forward.

I look at a game simply as 'engine.' Pax engine is nice. Combat is gonna be meh-ish, probably, but that doesn't matter to me as long as you can use some intelligence / skill / and you can use fighting to handle problems.

There are other games I am intrigued by, but none of them are coming out in days haha.

And yea I think EA will have a fresh start. Like I said doods, hit me up. I am down to group. I just need to know what server, etc. I'm not sure at all where to build this time.

See, tho, Rhias, that sort of stuff is 'interesting.' I don't have that feeling with MO2 at all anymore. And to me, it's worth dropping 40 to use that feeling until it goes away.

I am somewhat in the same mindset. Plus Pax is still quite unknown to me. So there is a bit more new to experience.

Not sure how long that "new smell" will last, but the last two testing phases both left me wanting to experience more.

With PVE I mean fighting monsters. Blocking feels not worth it. You can't reliably dodge AI attacks. The best way is simply spamming attacks. Those weapon abilities do 10x damage of an auto attack. So your open the figt with spamming your 2 abilities, than you spam auto attacks until your abilities are no longer on cooldown, and then you spam your abilities again. Basically just damage trading with the monster, and the only deciding factor if you win or not is how expensive is the gear you're wearing/using (so weapon, armor, food and potion).

I hope that the current combat is just a placeholder...

But the gathering part is nice. A lot of different things are gatherable and the world feels full of content and alive. Unlike MO where you can stumble across areas that are basically death and contain hardly anything interactable.

Me too @ placeholder, but yeah I get it. I'm just saying... I played MO2 for (only) 1000 hours x2 (two accts) since beta and I feel like I did all the MO pve I ever could. I didn't, but it's all the same shit. I DID MA. I fought bandits haha. Remember that shit in Hyl? You said how much money do I make there; if I wanted to make money I farm urials or I woulda helped dudes farm troll for half cut. I'd go in to a bandit camp and aggro everything at once and try to surive haha. I'd obviously look to see if I was just gonna get popped at range first, but if it was possible, that was the only way I could derive enjoyment from those mobs. I see people in dungeons farming and they are just spamming attacks with like 4 people.

I was messing with kiting in Pax, but yeah, the combat is meh. You can hit multiple mobs at once. I dunno. I don't think it's a placeholder per se, but I think it's going to evolve from there. That may be the weak point. I totally see it as a problem currently. I'll have a lot more thoughts when I get to play it again.

I just am legit upset by how far MO has gone from what I felt it should have been, so it's not even like "compare to MO" because I don't wanna play MO atm.
____

And yeah, I am gonna take it slowly-ish. I'm not gonna bust my ass for EA.

I think I could enjoy and find a way to make the combat work if it was pvp. Archery looks like it could be OK. I wish I had a chance to use a good bow.

Why cant they make these games with decent combat...

rofl. I feel you. Well, the game needs more than combat at the moment. We shall see what happens! The only thing that worries me about its end game combat wise is they are basing a lot off of EvE in regards to development.

There are pluses to less action based combat. Less desync effects, etc.

I think the pvp issue will be bigger than combat flaws. Plus pvp makes you have to address combat flaws in most cases, unless you've got pets!

Pvp server, hopefully!
