One simple thing that could make dagger main more viable without being OP

Nope. Daggers are cool. I'm sure a lot of people would like to play daggers but they don't, for the same reason that people don't use katanas. I'm always asked by new players "so where can i get a katana?" but the next day they're running around with a heavy greatsword. Because heavy greatsword isn't cool and not so visible within the pop culture but effective, katanas not so much. "player preference" aka statistics is an objective indicator, "i played since MO1" is a subjective one.

Listen. I've honestly been pretty polite. It's clear you disagree. So let's just leave it at that.

Also, people do use katanas. Literally know someone in my guild who does and prefers them.

Katanas go in. Veela katana is muah. The way close hits work now, how you can tank 'bad hits', if someone doesn't parry well, you will probably body them w/ a katana. The only thing is in the parry meta, you kinda want things you can hit people with off parries, or stepping out, and I dunno if there is as much of a chance to do that w/ a kat unless you are parrying moving towards them (which is a cool, high skill move but not many people do it cuz people are ready to just chill on the ez parry.)

IMO Katanas and daggers are similar in that people DON'T GET IT. MO is like telephone with people in help chat parroting things someone else told someone else and everyone ends up saying this is bad or that is bad without even trying. Katana is pvp viable imo, and it's A MONSTER... fr fr MONSTER pve wep. The good thing about GBs is you can roll a flake one and it's still good. A flake katana is gonna be dogshit, but if you start moving into real metals, Katana is a legit wep plus a v low mat cost. I DONO why people say it's not. People have this weird idea that you can only play one way. Best part is when they run into a playstyle they are unfamiliar with and lose to it they are like... WHAT... THAT... NERF!

They trained and dueled for different playstyle. Same with daggers. Many - most - people freak out and become braindead. Until they realise that your slashes barely do any damage, your thrusts are actually either equal or weaker without weakspots than their greatsword's slashes, they can avoid handle hits playing with camera, and after that you can only hit them when they are charging an attack, and unless you live in the middle of Europe or the opponent has a really slow weapon, you can't immediately parry.
