October 2023 Ban Report

Thank you for your patience. It was a busy month for both staff and GMs. PTR took some of us away from some regular duties and I have finally caught up. Here is your report for October 2023.

222 accounts were banned.

124 accounts were banned for hacking.

44 accounts were banned for botting.

28 accounts were banned for exploitation. Two accounts received their second strike, one account’s first strike was for the same thing in November 2022, another one’s first strike was in September 2022. (One account received their third strike and accounts attached were banned)

25 accounts were banned for breaking the Communication Policy. (One account has received their second strike for the same thing, they got a strike back in Feb. Another account received their second strike, but their first strike was for Exploiting back in June 2022)

Reddit Bans

This month there were 3 accounts banned. Either ban evasion or racism.

Sexual Harassment is NEVER Okay

Unfortunately, we had a case where a group of players coordinated a team effort of harassment against one of our players which involved a series of sexual harassment incidents in game, threats of violence against the person, posting vulgar and frankly disgusting videos online. These videos have been taken down by YouTube. This was reported to us and action was taken against six accounts.

This kind of behavior is never appropriate no matter the context. This active group was trying to push a player out of the game in a way which was not inductive to the rules of the game. Both in game actions and the greater context of outside game actions were considered. Any reports of similar behavior will be investigated and action will be taken if warranted.

This is also a reminder that if you feel threatened due to the actions of someone on the internet is to contact your local authorities and the platform holder’s support team (Ex. Discord app).

Editing Game Files WILL put your Account at Risk

There has been an increased number of questions surrounding this topic. We wanted to be clear;

Editing and modifying the game files of MO2 will put your account at risk of bans or strikes.

All reports sent to the GM/Support team will be investigated and confirmed.

Do you do a list of names somewhere. Curious as too the 222 people banned in a month.

Considering steam charts showing 1600 peak and if 200+ of those are getting banned on a monthly basis its actually depressing. :(

I think a wall of shame might discourage a few repeat offenders. maybe next month we will have 220 instead of 222. Looks like kuthara has another thing to add to his list..

It's 1600 people being online at a single time vs in total 200+ banned.

Your statement sounds like you think 200+ out of 1600 were banned, which would be incorrect, since the total population is much higher than 1600.

Not to mention the high probability that some people got multiple accounts banned haha.

This might be true, but it’s much more fun calling it a 200 pop game.

At minimum the character name that gets banned should be made unusable. So those people cant just make a new character with the same name and pretend they never got banned.
This is a small community and the shame alone of losing your main’s name might actually mean something to people, especially for those in leadership positions.

As it stand right now, a ban is just a mild annoyance. You lose a few bucks for a new account and a few days to skill back up.
